International AIDS Housing Roundtable

I know this is an issue that affects everyone and it's a fact that with stable housing PLWHA can live a healthy life and also can prevent the spread of HIV.
This will definitely once again be a highlight during the IAC 2010 and with the help of other activist/advocates the message will spread widely to those that are not aware of the impact that occurs when someone is homeless.

What is It?
The International AIDS Housing Roundtable is a forum for discussion ofissues pertaining to homelessness and HIV and the provision of
appropriate housing for people living with HIV and AIDS. This roundtable is a project of the USA-based National AIDS Housing Coalition. The Roundtable is intended to provide opportunities for
international dialogue toward the development and implementation of public policies that recognize the critical role of housing both in the prevention of HIV transmission and in the care of people who are living with HIV and AIDS.

The Roundtable is a moderated listserv. The current moderator of the list is Kenneth Robinson, Vice President for Housing Operations at Housing

In addition to the listserv, the International AIDS Housing Roundtable has created this web site where participants in the Roundtable can post
information of interest.
Most recently, in conjunction with the International AIDS Conference in Mexico City this July 2008, the United States based non-governmental
organizations the NAHC and Housing Works, Inc., and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, together with the Ontario HIV Treatment Network
(OHTN), have formed an international committee to convene a two- hour conference satellite event titled “International Summit on Poverty,
Homelessness and HIV/AIDS.” Summit participants will work together to develop and present to the International Conference a declaration
demanding adequate housing as a fundamental human right and an essential element of effective HIV prevention and health care. Going forward, the summit committee and consensus statement on housing and health will serve as valuable educational and organizing vehicles for
PLWHA and their allies to build the international, national and local political will to support the development of culturally appropriate
housing resources as a key element of HIV prevention and care strategies.
