Grounded - Call for art submissions

Grounded - Call for Submissions
A showcase of young peoples creative efforts to find balance, build community, and express hope.

Grounded is being curated as part of International Youth Week 2009, and will be held from May 1st- 7th at WhipperSnapper Gallery in downtown Toronto.

Grounded theme:
The world around us is a complex and dizzying place with no shortage of problems. Wide spread conflict and inequality is deepening locally and globally - due to a rampant lack of respect for each other as well as the natural environment. Yet while the world seems to be spinning off its access, young people are finding creative, often moving, and sometimes even shocking ways to ground themselves. We are looking for creative submissions from individuals and groups whose work expresses a social consciousness or critique. We believe that people producing socially reflective and engaged projects and artworks do so with an underlying sense of hope and determination that positive change is possible. It is this resolve for a more equitable and sustainable world, which we intend to showcase and celebrate with this exhibition.

How to submit:
We welcome submissions from young individuals and groups working in all artistic forms. (painting, drawing, print, photo, video, performance, dance, theatre, music, creative writing, and more). If you or your collective would like to submit to Grounded please send the following information to josh@youthactionnetwork.org.
