Lately in the news the Ontario [provincial government] has been purposing the idea of merging both the provincial and GST taxes into one tax. Many Ontario residents are upset by this for one of the following reasons:

1) Some items are currently not taxable such as: certain groceries, children's clothing, footwear costing $30 or less, fast food meals under $4, etc

2) Some people are PST exempt such as the Aboriginal groups who have a special tax exempt card they can use when shopping

3) financially the upward pressure of rising prices [many consumers currently feeling the stress of the recession]

So TIG Members [especially members in Canada, what do you think the Canadian government should do about this issue?
