Ratable Resources

Hi,
I often get bogged down in the number of resources. I think it would be useful to creat more subcategories and allow members to comment and rate resources.
Thanks,

A good place to start is the drop-down menus on the top of the page - they give a good breakdown of what's available on the website.

Yes, but even when I narrow the amount of choices down by going to organizations > business & entrepreneurship > north america, there are still 89 resources. These resources are organized alphabetically. It would be nice if they could be organized by popularity or rating, which would allow me another filter.

Michael!
Ratings and cooments may be useful, but I would feel that it would add a bias to some resources that were either used a lot or not used often. This may burry opportunities that are good, but have not been rated. As for subcategories, do you have any ideas on the type of categories that you would like to see?
We are always looking for ways to improve the site. If you could make some suggestions, then we could look into this for you!

Hugh,
I've made a couple of comments on different TIG forums as there appears to be no organized way that the memberships' wish lists are considered broadly across the members and over time, implemented, integrated or trashed.
Its the problem on the world's research networks like http://www.aarnet.edu.au// in Oz and internet2 in the US, where yu will increasingly find a list of working groups.
http://www.aarnet.edu.au/engineering/wgs/ who attempt to align with their peers across country and disciplinary borders.
The buzz at the moment is about trying to come up with directories to the media and comms (presence) of working groups. Yes, the idea of ratings is one way to try and cut through the info overload. But ultimately, if we can guide people asking similar questions to the same (secure) 'virtual venue' (as the ICT combination is called at http://www.accessgrid.org) then we might have a chance at supporting international peers, or global communities.
PS Did anyone ever reply to Sebastian?

Hey Simonfj
I think Sebestian's post should be moved to the forum named Help Wanted, as the one for comments&suggestions is for members to comment about the website but if you need help you can post in the Help wanted

Hi!
My name is Hugh and I am a staff member of TakingITGlobal and a member of the tech team (among other things...)
Over the years, we have incorporated hundreds of suggestions (literally) from members in the improvement of our site. Our new version that will be launched in early August will incorporate a ton of suggestions that we have received from members both by email, forums and at events that we attend.
If you do have any suggestions, I would be happy to add it to our tracker so that we can try and incorporate it into the site later in the year.
Thanks!
- Hugh
