Mel Young's Homeless World Cup

I didn’t know about the Homeless World Cup until this year. To be honest I didn’t know who Mel Young was until this year as well. But if he were on TIG I would definitely click the inspired button.
This year the Homeless World Cup is in Milan. For those of you who were like me until recently, the Homeless World Cup works with homeless people on a local level using sports to reach out to them and then holds a massive global tournament with these people. Tons of countries compete against each other bringing world wide attention to the issue of homelessness and inspiring players and people to reorganize their life.
The documentary Kicking It was narrated by Colin Ferrell and shows some of these peoples lives who played in Cape Town (incredible). Since reading Nico’s post “The Wrong World Aids Day” on panorama zine the whole argument of whether large events just become marketing stunts or whether they provide true value crept into my mind.
What do you think about this one?
