and the diplomatic one ( asking for peace.. being away from your country... lie... and sometimes selling some of your principles )
I agree, i'd have to reiterate the fact that democracy is indeed a doubled-faceted institution. It promises to fulfill something in theory, but in practise it contradicts its theory.
Look at how property rights in the United States have played out. While giving people their independence, those same property rights alienate individuals, especially those who cannot afford to maintian their property rights.

Democracy for me is an illusion, something that only occurs in Utopia.
My definition of Democracy is that democracy is the ruling of people by giving the chance for every and each human being to have an opinion( and respecting and taking that opinion) in the way he want the country to stand and in the way that he wants the country to be. Simply, it's the ruling of people by people.
And I kind of like the definition that Laurence J.Peter said:
"Democracy is a process by which the people are free to choose the man who will get the blame."

The Nigerian president, granted Amnesty to Niger Delta militants - Are they criminals, Amnesty is only granted to criminals. Is amnesty in the Nigerian constitution?
The amnesty offer also involves paying each militant #20,000.00 every month. why this pea-nut? why should some members in civil service be earning close to #1m every month, and then only #20,000.00 be paid to militants. what are we fighting against? would this make the militants stop their aggressive lunchings against the government?
there is job crisis here and there, millions of Nigerians are unemployed. why? no capital even for those who are business minded? what sort of country is this? can we every progress? what is the way forward? are we sure there's a solution to the Nigerian demo-cracy problem?

 truth be told demoracy is a noble cause and all but in practise it has never been achieved because human beings are selfish. thre are world leaders who strife for this but because of the powerful selfish people we can only really ever dream of true democracy.

One good fact about democracy is the people,the people decides what should be and what should not be.but let me note that our system defines our governance.
i have read with keen interest some of your contribution,Nigeria may have some parameters of a failed state,but we are not a failed state.There is no beauty in a Unsung song.maybe the chorals of true democracy is still in reharsal,or the choir master has not given the right module for training or maybe the instrumentals are not playing in sychrony.....inspite of our singing with both sides of the mouth.
Democracy in its full potential is a balanced meal for our Youths,many a few leaders in democratic goverment make judicial use of her youths.lets look at the good side of everything as well
