EFFECTS OF WAR
This articles is aim at portraying the negative effects of war and the trauma it leaves on the nation during and after it occurrence. War is indeed a barbaric instrument that destroys and disintegrates a nation and its people. The atrocity of war which include disregard for the rule of law, killing, destruction of innocent lives and properties, giving of arms to children (even under 14), rapes or women, etc are highly devastating, and barbaric in nature. These negative element can only be extract out of our community by love, unity, and due regard for the rule of law.
This article focuses on the devastating effects and consequences of war in Liberia, which has led to the lost of about three hundred thousand (300,000) lives and destruction of properties worth millions of dollars. The world we currently find ourselves in is a global village, and as such anything that affects minuet portion of this global community negatively will have severe impact on the world development and quest for peace, development and tranquility.
Liberia is a small country located on the West Coast of Africa. Liberia was founded by free slaves from America. Liberia was the first African countries to gain independence. Liberia got her independence in 1847. By virtues of its age, Liberia should have been the most developed country in Africa. But, see where war has brought Liberia to (death, malnutrition, rapes, destruction, refugees, hunger, massacre etc).
Analyzing the Liberian scenario, one may ask “What are the profits of War?” Continuous Killing and consistent state of under-development, poverty, and high increased rate of illiteracy is the utmost answer. When on sit to perceive the devastating situation in Liberia, lots of perception and sorrowful misery comes to mind. I am sure you and I have one time or another witnessed (Eye witness or on Television), the tragedy of human suffering from terrible impoverished slums of the horrors refugees camps and internal displaced environment where mothers and children are so desperate, begging with the actualization of the slogan “SURVIVAL THE FITTEST”. It is indeed a very painful and traumatic experience.
Finally, I must sympathetically state that frightening thought some of these barbaric and sorrowful experiences and effects of war are, they are not half as traumatic as sitting somewhere, knowing a friend, family or loved ones possibly in a similar situation and not knowing what is happening or whether I would see them again. Everyone of us must note that it is one thing to face danger yourself, and it is another thing to have someone you loved face danger and totally helpless to intervene on his behalf.
Unfortunately the current despicable acts of war continuously upon the innocent people of Liberia have already forced many people to suffer. Even most unfortunately, it is very likely that these incidents are only the commencement of a series of consistent act of violence that will destroy the West African Sub-region if each and everyone of us fail to contribute our quoto to peace and continental unity.
We are all genuinely and very legitimately concern about the effects of war on innocent civilians and the continuous used of child soldiers, but what about the effects on adults? Innocent Children? What about the effects on ourselves? How do we deal with them?
War is bad and war is very, very terrible and destructive. Let us all do something positive for the promotion of peace and development in this current world of ours.

The Ugly Face of War !!

I can feel how much you have been affected by the ugly face of war. I spend my teen age years during the war in Lebanon. I know what is it like to live in a war torn country, seeing it on TV is not like living it !! Dropping the bomb from above is not the same like receiving it from below. It has been twenty years now, but the images is still with me. That why I do whatever I can to tell people that war is not the answer, never will , never was.

i both disagree and agree with what you are saying. Do you think that there comes a time when war is the only way out? Do you think that perhaps that in such a state where a country had no other option but to go to war, would that justify what they would do? I remember a while back when my year group was bein chastised by my yearmaster for bullying.
The only thing that evil needs to survive and grow is for good men to do nothing.
I don't like war. I don't enjoy it. I don't believe war is good. War is not good for anyone. But the end result of a war taking for example the Iraq war has been good.
