Colorism...i think that's the term, or maybe they use intra-racism or inter-racism...um, oh well, it's like racism within a race

like let's say in like different races amongst "people of color" like Hispanics, or Indians (from India), Blacks, etc...there are different variations in their hues..like light to dark...but very noticeble degrees in differences perhaps not found as commonly in Whites...although, i mean, that's in every race though...point is like, sometimes the closer the hue or let's say features are sometimes like the nose, or the eyes...to Anglo-Saxon, European features, then there are sometimes divisions created within the race. Perhaps, an example...if you are a very light-hued Black male...then you're not seen as masculine a lot of times by Black females...it's odd. and on the Hispanic networks, you don't always see the different types of Spanish-speaking people in the ancor positions...like not many classic Mexican features...in Cuba, and well, Brazil you have that a lot...less African you're made up of--sometimes, the more you're seen in your cultures media.

um, look it up on the net, and really look up:

William Lynch's essay or speech it's a good way to see how that kind of thing started in the U.S. Um, through-out history, I'll conjecture that perhaps the early European explorers that "conqured" and "discovered" already civilized, pre-cultivated, already inhabited lands...perhaps because of the taking-by-force land-grabbing made a correlation between Caucasians and power, wealth and prestige might have followed...thus making the whole...closer to White thing superior...and the more white in your blood thing...superior...etc

That there's discrimination within a racial group against members who have darker or lighter skin or more or less "European" features. It's a fairly well documented phenomenon- for example, with Spanish-language television, the anchors always have light skin and fairly European features, which are not representative of all Latinos- there are, for example, basically no black Lations on Spanish-language tv, or any who have Native American ancestry.

Also, among blacks, just as among whites, not everyone has the same color- especially in the post-civil war US, some light-skinned African-Americans were able to pass as white- they also often enjoyed more economic and political success. This in turn created somewhat of a backlash, where darker-skinned African Americans discriminated against those with lighter skin colors because they themselves had frequently been mistreated by the lighter-skinned blacks. This feelings still linger in some quarters today.

I myself have experienced no such phenomenon- the closest it's come are comments on my natural near-albino state and inability to tan well from sun goddesses.
