Women = Men ?

Will men and women ever be seen as equal human beings in all aspects of our existence (e.g. the family, labour, decision-making, leadership, peace, etc.)

When mankind evolves we will all be treated with dignity and equality. Until then we will continue to miss plenty of genius from the female side. That said we haven't got anywhere near "the right person for the right job" so we are probably missing plenty of male genius. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Andy ehwhiteboy

Well, I think that men and women are equal, but they are also different. Which means that men are better in some respects than women and women are better in an equal amount of respects than men.

Many people are trying for this. And that is why we have WOMEN'S DAY not MEN'S DAY. In some countries as Vietnam, Chinese, ... boys are highly respected than girls. As a newspaper I have read recently that many boys are being kidnapped in Chinese. They are sold from $1500 to $4500. Even a man says" a rich family which does not have any sons is less than a family who has one"
Sexist discrimination changes my life somehow when I used to live a long time in 2 houses that respects boys. They talk about men is something that is very precious although they are also female and my country does not lack men.
In EU or America, there is more equal. But it does not mean there is no sexist in a way.

I believe men and women should be seen the same way in each of these areas. However sometimes biological differences, which we cannot change, make this difficult.
As an example, consider childbirth: biologically, women can give birth but men cannot. Raising a child in the womb can take many months, in which the woman might not be working and advancing in her career. This break from work can impact women's careers, sometimes. The bond that the woman has with her child may also cause her to become closer to the child than the father is, affecting family life.
What do you think?

I think women and men are always going to be biologically different but I don't think that would limit them from being social equals including in the case of raising children.
I guess it all comes down to the fact that equality is not about everyone being the same, its about ensuring that everyone has the same opportunity in life to expressing their humanity without prejudice or harm to others.
Again, that's just my opinion.

I think that one of the major differences between men and women is that they communicate differently. In order to feel more equal, we have to work on understanding each other as best as we can. It’s important to adopt a dialogue that both genders can relate to.
TIG’s featured project for May is based on the importance of Intercultural Dialogue and understanding each other. Check out the project and learn more.

Dialogue is definitely a first step to bringing about change in the area of equality...at least it gives people a chance to get their thoughts about the issue off their chest.

I think that the day will come when men will be treated as women of todays world!!!!! The position will be replaced...
If women are empowered then only women=men.

Hi everybody,
Allow me to barge in a bit late.
Islam had answered your question over 1400 years ago!
Islam states that men and women are exactly equal. They have the same rights, and receive the same punishment when they commit a sin, and the same reward when they commit a good deed.
However, although they are equal, they are also different. Men and women were created in different ways, facilitated for the role required to be performed by each of them.
If you look at boys and girls, you will find girls playing with dolls, unconsciously preparing themselves for the role they will play 20 years later, where boys are playing with cars and guns!! Women have the motherhood instinct and love before even getting married, while that of a man doesn't develop till the moment he holds his baby in his hands.
Hormonal differences are of much difference, being a medical doctor, and more important a husband, I do understand what hormonal changes can do to a woman!!! That is why men are suitable for some jobs, and women are suitable for others, and that is generally speaking, not the exceptions.

Dromarof,
I don't think playing with dolls and cars are universal or even biologically determined activities that are specific to either gender. As a child I played with both dolls and cars. I played with dolls because I was interested in social interaction and the psychological effects of such interactions, which I later studied in university. I played with cars because they are fast and cool. I definitely was not subconsciously preparing myself for motherhood and neither was my family.
By that's just my experience...
