Islam...What do you really know?
August 27, 2003 - 06:40 AM
|
|
1. What is Islaam?
The word "Islaam" is an Arabic word that means "submitting and surrendering your will to Almighty God". The word comes from the same root as the Arabic word "salam", which means peace. Unlike the names used for other religions, such as Buddhism, Hinduism and Christianity, the name for the religion of Islaam was both revealed by God and carries a deep spritual meaning - only by submitting one's will to Almighty God can one obtain true peace both in this life and in the life hereafter. Islaam teaches that all religions originally had the same essential message - which was to submit whole-heartedly to the will of God and to worship Him and Him alone. For this reason, Islaam is not a new religion but is the same divinely revealed Ultimate Truth that God revealed to all prophets, including Noah (PBUH), Abraham (PBUH), Moses (PBUH) and Jesus (PBUH).
2. Who are Muslims?
The Arabic word "Muslim" literally means "someone who submits to the will of God". The message of Islaam is meant for the entire world and anyone who accepts this message becomes a Muslim. Some people mistakenly believe that Islaam is just a religion for Arabs, but nothing could be further from the truth, since in actuality over 80% of the world's Muslims are not Arabs! Even though most Arabs are Muslims, there are Arabs who are Christians, Jews and atheists. If one just takes a look at the various peoples who live in the Muslim World - from Nigeria to Bosnia and from Morocco to Indonesia - it is easy enough to see that Muslims come from all different races, ethnic groups and nationalities. From the very beginning, Islaam had a universal message for all people. This can be seen in the fact that some of the early companions of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) were not only Arabs, but also Persians, Africans and Byzantine Romans. Being a Muslim entails complete acceptance and active obedience to the revealed will of Almighty God. A Muslim is a person who freely accepts to base his beliefs, values and faith on the will of Almighty God. In the past, even though you don't see it as much today, the word "Mohammedans" was often used as a label for Muslims. This label is a misnomer and is the result of either wilful distortion or sheer ignorance. One of the reasons for the misconception is that Europeans were taught for centuries that Muslims worshipped the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the same way that Christians worship Jesus. This is absolutely not true since a Muslim is not permitted to worship anyone or anything besides Almighty God.
This information was taken from www.salaf.com
The following is me:
Islam is not a religion of terrorism. Those who commit such crimes in the name of Allah (swt) are wrong. Islam does not make women property. The face covering is not a part of hijab. It is cultural; therefore not a part of the religion. In Islam, women have the right to be educated, work, vote, and own property. It is some customs and traditions that take those rights away from women-not Islam.
Did you know that parents can not force their children to get married. They have the right to say no.
I ask all of you to read Quran and Hadith for yourself. There are people who commit crimes against humanity and their women in the name of Allah (swt)who do notknow their religion. If it cannot be found in Quran and an authenticated Hadith, it is not Islam.
As Salaamu Alaikum,
Will

Dear, the informattion you submitted is interested and very important for everyone to know. But could you please tell me what you did in order to convey these facts to society in which you live? Nowadays, the Juish lobby intesifies their efforts in order to distort the image of Islam and Muslims all over the world. You and all the Muslim coommunity in America have a great and seriously important role to save Islam and convince the Americans the terrorism, and those terrorists are not related to Islam, whose holly Scripture says: "argue them with what is better" and "if you had been stubbern, rough-hearted, they would have left you." Please dear, do your best u and your likes in order to save us and our religion.

Am I missing something? I am an American, yet I have Muslim friends and did not think that they, or any of their descendants were part of any terrorism. I do not hold Muslims world wide accountable for any terrorist activity that goes on, I hold the individual involved accountable, Muslim or not.
In the school curriculums children are taught a multitude of religions and how they are practiced. The schools are not trying to convert anyone, but they are making them aware. Now more than ever that is a necissary step, ESPECIALLY in America, where you do not see one nationality everyday.

No sir, you're missing nothing. The ideas of any intellectual gentle man must be like yours. Yet, this is not the case. You and your likes are very few in America. The government is extremely affected by the Juish Lobby. Therefore, it tries to distort the concepts of everyone, and it greatly succeeded. You have to convince your countrymen that Islam is religion based on tollerance, and those terrorists shouldn't be taken as a steriotype about it.

i dont think there is any point blaming the "jewish lobby" or anything, i think muslims are themselves responsible for their isolation and its high time they moved towards social reforms then to rhetorics like islam is in danger and world is against us.
jews arent mad to target muslims specifically. and BTW, george bush is not a jew.

I agree with Vivek that we should not put all the blame on American Jews or the world Jewish population for the depraved image of the Muslims. This is because a lot of other groups or individuals have a hand in typecasting a person belonging to the Islamic faith.
The media is one big culprit; it sensationalizes an issue by using 'Muslim' instead of a more specific description like an Arab, an Indonesian, an Iranian, etc. This inability of the press to handle information fairly unfortunately leads to more readers, mostly credulous to such adulterated facts.
Second, big companies would destabilize the oil-rich economy of a region, to paint an ostensible picture of insecurity(which is not far from the truth, only exaggerated). This would result in the flight of foreign investments from this region to, say, South America, and would subsequently result in the decline of oil prices, which is prophetically beneficial to the companies.
Last but definitely not the least, individuals carry a certain preconception of other people foreign to them. Most of the people I met would ask me if I had only been joking when I'd say "hi, Im Hussein" because I dont look Arabian nor do I practice Islam. When I was young, I also though that all Muslims have four wives, but now I know a lot of monogamous Muslims. There are so many oversimplifications of images or opinions about Muslims and 'terrorist' is just one of them.
I cant really think of a distinctly feasible solution to the problem as of now, because I dont know if Ill be impartially right. But like most of us, I would say that this should be changed from the bottom up. Individuals should not let stereotypes of other people blind them from seeing the hurt a 'name' can cause.

The Distinction Between Islam & Politics !!
September 12, 2003 - 01:02 AM
|
|
Have you noticed, that most of the extremist muslim movememt against the west are based on pure political issues? and some of those issues, like the peace process between Israel and Palestine, Hizbullah in Lebanon, the relationship between Egypt and Israel etc.... are all issues that concern many people in the middle east, whether they are muslim or christian. My point is, it has nothing to do with Islam, it is politics, and it has been politics for a long time, but the main stream wasn't paying attention, so we have Bin ladin who found the weakest link, RELIGION !! and he is using it against his own people, and against the west, and guess what ? its WORKING !!

This is a worry.

This is etched in granite in Quran, the "complete" and "unalterable" word of Allah.
The "believers" are Muslims, the unbelievers are the rest of humanity.
003.028
YUSUFALI: Let not the believers Take for friends or helpers Unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah: except by way of precaution, that ye may Guard yourselves from them. But Allah cautions you (To remember) Himself; for the final goal is to Allah.
PICKTHAL: Let not the believers take disbelievers for their friends in preference to believers. Whoso doeth that hath no connection with Allah unless (it be) that ye but guard yourselves against them, taking (as it were) security. Allah biddeth you beware (only) of Himself. Unto Allah is the journeying.
SHAKIR: Let not the believers take the unbelievers for friends rather than believers; and whoever does this, he shall have nothing of (the guardianship of) Allah, but you should guard yourselves against them, guarding carefully; and Allah makes you cautious of (retribution from) Himself; and to Allah is the eventual coming.
and we have.............
005.051
YUSUFALI: O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.
PICKTHAL: O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. He among you who taketh them for friends is (one) of them. Lo! Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.
SHAKIR: O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.
then we have............
009.005
YUSUFALI: But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
PICKTHAL: Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
SHAKIR: So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

Disbelievers-Their Characteristics & Status In The Hereafter

Quote:
.... the Prophet said: “Whenever Allaah hates a slave, He calls Jibreel and says, ‘O Jibreel! I, indeed, hate so-and-so therefore you must also hate him. Then Jibreel will hate him and proclaim to the inhabitants of the heaven that Allaah hates so-and-so, therefore they too should hate him, then the inhabitants of the heaven will hate him, and his hatred will then be spread among the inhabitants of the earth.” (Al-Bukhaaree & Muslim).
Lifeless objects decry Kaafir disbelief and the Blessed Land will eject them in the End of Time. Stones and trees will say, “O Muslim! Here is a Kaafir!”
The Kaafir is the worst of Allaah’s creatures. He says: “They are the worst of creatures.” (Al-Bayyinah: 6).
When a Kaafir dies, the whole of humanity are relieved.
Dear Muslims! Emulating a people in their outward dispositions necessitates emulating them in their inner characters. Emulating the first generation of this ummah who are the Sahaabah and at-Taabi’een increases one in intellect, religiosity and good conduct while emulating the non-Muslims in their outward characteristics leads to emulating them in their conducts and ugly deeds. It also makes one love them. Therefore differ from idolaters and disbelievers in their behaviour and opinions and beware of taking them as friends. YOU SHOULD HATE THEM, DISOWN THEM AND THEIR RELIGION AND BE PROUD OF YOUR RELIGION. Strive for their guidance and call them to Islaam.

And the Anti-semetic rhetoric continues
"Do you know that 90% of the companies and enterprises that fund the presidential elections are owned by Jewish businessmen?
Do you know that 80% of the US Newspapers and TV channels are ruled by Jews?
Do you know that Hollywood, the US's voice to the world, is 80% funded by Jews." - Aymanelhakea
Well to begin 90% of compaign financing is not in the hands of Jews - I certain Jews wish they had that much buying power - but they don't. You think perhapes there would be more Jewish Sentators and Presidents if Jews controlled 90% of campeign money?
You think the Texas Oil barons and Energy Execs that are lining Bush's pockets are Jewish? Were any of the Enron guys Jewish? You think that Jews are outspending Gentiles 9 to 1? It's silly. FYI most Jews vote for Democrates - that is part of the reason that California and New York are such democratic strongholds in presidential politics (NY and LA).
80% of the News Media? Jack Welsh owns NBC, Michael Jordan (not basketball) owns CBS, Rupert Murdoch owns Fox, Ted Turner owns CNN, Glenn Britt runs Time Warner, Victor Ganzi runs Hearst Communications.
Warren Buffet and Bill Gates are the largest media shareholders in the world - owning huge shares of Disney, MSNBC and Dreamworks respectively.
The largest studio right now is Sony - Amy Pascal runs it, the Japanese own it.
But wait - the Japanese do not own it - it is a public company - like most media companies - which means that all kinds of people own a peice of it.
Robert Shaye runs New Line Cinema (Lord of The Rings etc.) Universal was owned by Vivendi and the French - now it is being sold peice meal.
Finally - the banks finance all films - studios are organizations with long lines of credit with the banks - Steven Speilberg does not personally finance any feature films. This is my industry and you don't know how it works.
Anyway - I think between Bill Gates, Jack Welch, Rupert Murdoch, Ted Turner, Glenn Britt, Amy Pascal, Robert Shayes etc. I have accounted for a little more than 20% of media control.
The biggest Jewish media control is Eisner at Disney (that evil company!) and Speilberg and Katzenberg at Dreamworks (those devils!)
I was looking for Premeire's "100 most powerful in Hollywood List" I couldn't find anything more recent than 1998 - but it is still telling - the list can be found at
http://www.omnileonardo.com/ms-100mostpowerful98.html
Do you know how many Jews are on the list? - 9 Just 9 Jews made the list of the 100 most powerful 1998. I saw the 2003 list recently - not much has changed - except they put Bruckheimer on top.
Anyway - I'm not sure where you got the idea that Jews own Hollywood - for certain there are many Jews in the Film Bussiness - I'm one of them - but I wouldn't even say we are a majority - Most of my Film school at NYU was gentile - the vast majority - and if that is not a telling staistic about the future I don't know what is.
But I can think of an entertainment Biz the Jews do dominate - Comic Books. Most people don't know this but Jews created the Superman character - his real name is Kal-el, which means "all that is God" in Hebrew - a couple of guys named Gaines and Wildenberg created him.
Batman was created by Bob Kane - really Kahn - he was Jewish.
Jack Kirby was really (Jacob Kurtzenberg) and he teamed with Stan Lee really (Stanley Lieber) to create the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Daredevil, and the Incredible Hulk. Kirby also played a role in creating Namor and Captian America.
Stan - who is my writing mentor and personal friend is most renouned for creating Spiderman.
The publishers of both DC and Marvel were Jewish and in the beginning Comic Books were basically a Jewish Industry. Obviously now you have you Chris Claremounts, and Peter David's and Todd Mcfarlanes - it has become a much more mainstream industry.
Marvel is still owned by Jews, DC is not.

I do not know who is who and who did what for whom..we still stand divided and we still land up picking on each other without trying to resolve an issue. Religion or race is meant to give us an initial format of life, which will allow us to structure life and after we gain the confidence we desire, it is upto us to adapt and adopt everything in the best possible means, which would allow us to life a comfortable and fruitful life.

I thank Mmughal for his statements - and remind Arabs that discrimination against Jews has contributed to the conflict in Israel greatly - and is the reason that many Jews left Arab lands to come to Israel in the first place.
Certainly Muhammed would not endorse descrimination against Jews.

You really think so? Why?
Mohammad did say that "Certainly you will find the most violent of people in enmity for those who believe (to be) the Jews". Thats in 5:82 of the Quran.
Does that statement generalizes the jews as violent enemies of muslims? Isnt that a discrimination?

Dear friends,
greetings of peace and happiness.
I cannot understand why jews are targetted so much by muslims. I do not see anything wrong with these people. What is said here, shows clearly that jews are better prepared for life in this world than any other people, is that a bad thing in itself? Is it better to live in pain and suffering rather than trying to help yourself to a better life? Is that not the reason for many people from islamic countries who now live in nonmuslim countries? They left their countries for better life elsewhere.
It is therefore time to follow jewish example and be all that you can be, rather than criticising a people who are doing well for themselves and for others. Let hindus, muslims, chrisitians etc etc etc all think of doing better. We must not copy bad things of each other but all goodness must be accepted regardless where it is coming from.
I think jews are a special people, for being so few as compared to christians and muslims etc, they are so dominant in almost all aspects of life. These people in my view need to be appreciated rather than being condemned. So my lovely friends, please give this matter a really good thought. Has anyone read speach of former malasian prime minister, mr mahatir at the international islamic conference?
Regards and all the best.

Question #38125: Iftaar with non-Muslims
http://63.175.194.25/index.php?ln=eng&ds=qa&lv=browse&QR=38125&dgn=4
Quote:
Question :
Is it haram to have iftar with non muslims like hindu,christian.etc...?.
Answer :
Praise be to Allaah.
It is permissible to have iftaar with non-Muslims if there is a shar’i reason for doing so, such as calling them to the true religion, or softening their hearts towards Islam, etc, which are what is hoped for if they come and eat iftaar at the tables set up for communal iftaar, as happens in some countries. BUT IF IT IS DONE JUST TO BE FRIENDLY TOWARDS THEM AND ENJOY THEIR COMPANY, THIS IS A DANGEROUS MATTER,BECAUSE THE PRINCIPLE OF AL-WALA' WA'L-BARA' (BEFRIENDING THE BELIEVERS AND SHOWING ENMITY TOWARDS THE DISBELIEVERS) IS ONE OF THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF ISLAM, AND ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT DUTIES OF THE BELIEVERS. ...

This is what Ummahs teach:
Question #2322: Is wearing jeans imitating the kuffaar?
http://63.175.194.25/index.php?ln=eng&ds=qa&lv=browse&QR=2322&dgn=4
Quote:
Question :
Is wearing jeans considered imitating the kuffar or is it
ok?
Answer :
Praise be to Allaah.
...... The scholars also made an exception concerning Muslims wearing the distinctive clothes of the kuffaar when living in daar al-harb (non-Muslim countries which are at war with Muslims) or for purposes which will benefit the Muslims. Shaykh al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:
"When a Muslim is living in a non-Muslim land (whether or not it is hostile to Islam), he is not expected to differ from them (the kuffaar) in his outward appearance, because of the harm that may result (from dressing as a Muslim). It is preferable, even obligatory, for a man to look like them sometimes, if that will achieve some religious purpose such as calling them to Islam, finding out their secrets in order to tell the Muslims about them, repelling their harm from the Muslims, and other worthwhile aims. But in the Muslim lands where Allaah has caused His religion to prevail, and where the kuffaar are in an inferior position and are paying jizyah (taxes paid by non-Muslims living under an Islamic government), it is obligatory for Muslims to look different from the kuffaar." (Iqtidaa' al-Siraat al-Mustaqeem, 1/418).
It is clear from the above that jeans are not clothes that are characteristic of the kuffaar or worn only by them, so they are not haraam. However, it is more befitting for the Muslim to try to wear distinctive Islamic dress wherever he is, in obedience to the way of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). The Muslim should feel in his heart that he hates the kuffaar and the way they look and behave. This hatred will motivate him to avoid looking like them at all in the way he dresses or in other ways. Do you not see that a person who despises a people or tribe, or people from a certain country, will hate to dress like them, especially if they are poor. As Shaykh al-Islam (Ibn Taymiyah) said: "Looking like them in external appearance indicates that one loves them in one's heart, and vice versa." And Allaah knows best.
