True love: Knowing when to leave?

As a clinical psychologist I did much couples' counseling and after many years and now retired I have reflected on what true love may entail.
Summing it up, it would be something like: When everything else fails true love means "leaving when you know that your presence hurts your loved one."
Or, True Love: "Knowing when to leave"

I quite agree with you, sincerity isn't weakness in the dictionary of love -
Love is just to place the feelings, and emotions of others above your gratification, it is swallowing your pride no matter the size.
empathy.
moreover, enduring misunderstanding, disregarding assumptions, and overlooking flaws, are shielded under the umbrella of the later.
You've got a witty way to say it all.
I wish the million youths chanting love.. love.. today ( 14-02-09) will see your brand and blend of experience and knowledge fusing into your summation!
Thanks!

True love does exist.
But, when a person clings on to someone for its own sake love is not the main issue... This is one of the reasons there is so much intra-family violence...
But, yes, I can attest that true love does exist.

well true love is something i once believed in and i am confused as to how can ur true love reject you. I am still in a state of hurt but i tell myself everyday that i fhe is my true love he will come back to me, because he still says he love me bu this work wouldnt allow him a relationship. I cryed for nites i still do cry wenevr i think about him, but i wouldnt say there is no such thing as true love. Because it does exits we just got to keep our hearts open to let it in.

Yes, what I said concerning "true love" is in a way a contradiction. But, there are situations when love is not enough to keep a relationship on a healthy path. Thus, parting is part of "true love"... not doing so, in many cases, perpetuates hurt. Of course, the other party may remain baffled, but recovery is always possible if you keep in mind that leaving was a healthier mental health option.

I believe in true love 100%. But, when both people fall out of love and there is no emotional or physical connection then it is time to leave. I hope that once I am married then I won't have to leave them at all!
