deserts

people everywhere fight desertification, which they consider their enemy because it prevents them from growing usual crops, and that pushes people to break into deserts and turn them into green lands, but why don't we think in the manner that desert itself is a natural ecological system, together with its animals, plants and geology?

Everyone thinks of deserts as awful habitats. You of all people(because you live in Egypt) should know that the desert treasures life, and only the most able and worthy will survive. Israel was a desert(or should I say Palestine or a combination of both?) before irrigation was started. Now it holds a civilization, as does Africa's desert regions.
