WORLD PEACE IS POSSIBLE
January 1, 2009 - 09:16 PM
|
|
Let's resolve this year to create a peaceful presence wherever we go.Blessed are the peacemakers,for they shall be called children of God.Let us love our neighbors as ourselves.
Lord, make us an instrument of your peace:
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
Where there is discord, harmony;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is error, truth;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
World peace is possible
Happy New Year 2009

A society of peace is possible when people get aware of their responsability in this aspect. That is why early concoius education is very importat to make this possible.

i would like to be frank and candid as regards this issue - World Peace!!!
To me we all wished the world could be a peaceful society for everyhumans, because even our creator initiated this in the first place, if not for our sinful tendencies.
I don't think World peace is attainable, attributing this to the fact of the present happenings around the globe today, instead of making landmarks, we only hear of continuous reports of wars, chaos, upheavals and fracases in one place after another.
Absolute peace is a state of mind, it has to come from the innermost person. Now, not all humans on earth have that heart to develop such a humane feeling.
if we base it on percentage, i think it would be possible only to attain a 60% World Peace. And attaining that feat calls for an extraordinary effort by all and sundry. we must enlighten the populace, giving them reasons for sueing peace, the benefits and its impact on other inhabitants of our beautiful planet earth.
But with greed, selfishness, the tussle for power and the subjection of other humans of lower status, class and calibre - it would be difficult to attain absolute World Peace!!!

I belive very much world peace is possible, but not in todays political system!
I consider myself as a member of the global democracy movement promoting the idea of transparent demorcatic global governance that will enable world peace (in my opinion).
Take a look if you like:

So I've been thinking of something I might be able to share to start helping make little changes that could help bring on big change way down the road.
I was trying to brainstorm ways of helping reduce conflict and I've come up with what might be a crazy/way out there perspective on how to do just that. I'm going to share because I'd rather sound strange on the internet first.
I've kind of been thinking about how conflict is always brought on by a difference in opinion about what is right or wrong/good or bad, and how that if people were to be able to accept each person's unique perspective things would be much calmer. I think that if everybody were to keep in mind: the standard by which normal, good, bad, right and wrong are measured has never been perceived twice to mean the same thing that the world would be a much more peaceful place.
Basically in my opinion the idealistic view of reality that people in society strive to reach is completely flawed (based on the idea that it is perceived differently for everybody) and if everybody were to accept that reality is different for every single human being on planet earth there would be no need for conflict.
Things don't need to be right or wrong, they can just be what they are to each individual. It is okay to just be.
I don't know. I spend a lot of time thinking about this.

Hi BaobabFton,
you are right in a way, but I think it is not just about accepting everyones reality it is also about everybody considering the reality of everybody else when doing something. (e.g. I would not want to accept the reality of people such as Hitler.)
In my eyes we need to prevent people profiting from acting violent against other peoples´ will. If violence is not rewarded people will be living in peace.
Yours Fred
ps:Parents need to accept their childs reality, but they also need to help the child preparing for life. They need to help the child defining its´own mature reality.
The same problem appears when there is somebody addicted to drugs. Is society then supposed to accept his reality or should it try to help the person to get away from the drugs?

I had already been considering the dilemma of people we'd call 'sick' or 'twisted''s realities infringing on the reality of people who have the capacity to learn to live the way I was talking about.
It's a hard one, all I can hope is that by the time our society would be ready to even begin fathoming leading the aforementioned existence there would be more help in guiding people who take pleasure in causing people to suffer. I'm not sure where else to take that thought, any ideas?

Hi Baobab, I concur with the following comment: Things don't need to be right or wrong, they can just be what they are to each individual.

very true,
the most important thing is not
-who's right or wrong,
-what is good or bad.
THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS ARE
--- RESPECT ---
---TOLERANCE ---
--- ACCEPTANCE ---

Tolerance is not so good of a word to use in this case. Tolerance means that you may not like what someone is doing but you allow it with disdain, and without love towards the other person. This isn't going to help us achieve world peace. The same goes for acceptance, though I must say that respect is certainly integral for world peace.

Omar,In the 21st Century, we still live in a world where some people in the developed world underestimates the underdeveloped as slaves, inferior. As Carmen stated, Respect, Tolerance, and Acceptance is the only road to World peace. (Not war).
My stance, world peace is achievable if only the above mentioned are taking in-to consideration.
If we are only for ourselves, what are our lives for? Make a difference, make the world a better place for all.

What I was saying is that we need more than "tolerance" for world peace.
