Does Medical Insurance work for you?
December 30, 2008 - 11:58 PM

I opted for the Medical Insurance for the first time this month. The long list of Exclusion clause makes me wonder if Medical Insurance really helps those who need it? In India, it does not cover mental illness as well.

I wonder if you all have experiences to share?

for emergency or accidental injury, i found medical insurance quite useful.

One of my friend had insured his mother just before she had a pressmaker surgery. The expenses have been covered as there was no visible illness during the application process.

Another friend had a hell lot of trouble to insure his parents; as they are over 55 of age. There was no official rule not providing them insurance but somehow the companies make less profit insuring aged people; they were making a perpetual delay. No matter they are healthy & have no such fatal illness, after applying of 9 months they didn't get it.

Although, from a personal experience I've seen applicants with brain haemerroge, kidney-malfunction history or heart disease are never approved of medical insurance!

i think it works. my mom in la wis getting operated.the operation bill expense is rs, one lakh 30 thousand.she has a medical insurance. for the operation the insurance company has already paid 50 thousand rupees and for the tests they released another 30 thousand rupees. her insurance premium was only four thousand rupees. a sound decision by her.

It does not work at all. I bought a medical insurance of our country every years. It requires what hospital you want to. Just one choice. It is so funny that it is national insurance but if I go to another hospital, I will be as the one who has not had medical insurance and pay all things there.
I don't know if the problem is from the Government or from people do that work.

insurance perse itself is a bad experience and if so ur passing through a bad phase then it makes things worse. i have many experiences good and bad.most of these insurances are payed for hospitalisation only and in such cases when ur preparing urself to get discharged then be mentally prepared that u will have to extend ur stay as these people will definitely take their own time to approve the bill.but on the positive side it definitly helps financially too.
do u knw that investing in these pvt life insurances is risky.while getting you to invest with them they would be very kind but when they have to repay they make sure to take the hell out of you.its my experience believe it.
