This has attracted many protests from various parts of the world. All nations should work together and aim to completely prevent such meaningless murders.
The second edition of the 'Hyderabad 10k Run' held today has become the first mass event to protest this. Being a participant of the event in both the editions, I appreciate the organization to conduct such events which aim to give mental strength to the citizens.
Pls feel free to check the photos at my TIG blog or my flickr photostream

Yes, we should condemn the attack, but will that be enough? will that stop further attacks? If we have to counter terrorism, we have to first fight hate and suspicion. What drives these young men to kill people in such cold blood, at the cost of their own lives? Anger, frustration, hate, passion. Unless we tackle the cause of this, no govt will be able to fight terror. We can have law after law, carry out as many raids as we want, bomb Pakistan, but things wont change. The basic rule of guerilla warfare is that you don't know when and where the strike will be. That is why it is outlawed and feared. 10 terrorists could hold the entire security apparatus of the country to ransom. Imagine what hundreds of disgruntled people can do? The US army with all its high tech devices loses people in Afghanistan and Iraq everyday because of this guerilla warfare. The only way to tackle terror is to tackle hate. Don't associate religion or a group of people with violence. Don't make them feel targeted or insecure because that breeds hatred. I know of very secular Muslims who were never conscious of their Muslim identity suddenly feeling insecure and wondering why they are being targeted. If constant fear, suspicion and allegations can do this to well educated, affluent people, belonging to the intelligensia, imagine what it can do to uneducated, unemployed, frustrated and angry youth. Is it difficult to figure out why we are having so many attacks then? And war posturing, burning Pak flags or declaring an all out war will only lead to more casualties on both sides of the border. More mothers will lose their brave sons, more children will be orphaned and wives widowed. Is that what we want? To sacrifice more officers like Unnikrishnan and Karkare to fulfil agendas of hate?
I write this message because I have been constantly reading the messages that flash on TV, people's reaction and I am worried at the amount of "othering" and blaming that is going on. It scares me because hate and fear are very strong emotions; they can make a person do anything.

You are right Gunjan. In a given system frame, citizens ahev very less to do something immediate in such crisis. Like taking actions, making policies and so on. But certainly we can contribute on advocacy level. By awareness, by education and by movements.

Its a tragedy of enormous proportions for India and for Mumbai. I don't know how terrorism can be rooted out because there are a lot of young people who are gullible to idealogical hatred. Its so unfortunate that these terrorists happen to be Muslims. And its also very sad that Islamic terrorism has become such a widespread threat around the world. The way to tackle this I feel is to strengthen our borders and improve our security system vastly. We can take help from other nations for this.
The unfortunate outcome of these attacks is the ill-will towards Muslims.
But I hope everyone is united in condemning strongly these attacks on our country.

after every national crisis, there's a pause of perplex! People need some time to get rid of the horror. The aftermath associates hatred which initiates another crisis of violence. The sooner we step out of this vicious circle, the better we are in a positon to analyse & work on it.
Gunjan, you caught the thread right! Hatred is so strongly implanted!! That this becomes our primary tool to protest, but couldn't it be Compassion by any chance!
We always eye on the Muslim world for every terror attack, but how could we nullify the localite association of the Mumbai Attack, since it had been so intricately planned! 25% of world population today is the Muslim & even this religion is growing incredibly fast! The world leaders, especially US are turning the tables. They also understand the dire need to harness the power of non-extremist Islamic world.
Forgiveness Love & Peace have to be the Mantra! INdia is in need of good Leadership! The youth-power can not go on unmobilised like this! Terrorism has to be nipped on the bud!

Oh Deba.. dont put Muslim in this debate. It is like open secrete that who have done this and why it has been done.
The thing is that, is just international solidarity expression is enough for the crisis like 9/11 and 26/11. It is high time to act on the mechanism to act against any kind of terrorists which are killing thousands of innocents.
There is gathering at Hotel Taj, the crisis site today at Mumbai, 6 PM. I request anyone from Mumbai to join it.

definitely, International solidarity is enough for such a crisis. But the open secret too can't escape analysis! There are extremist everywhere, even in Mumbai itself (You-know-Who I mean). But the non-extremist can outnumbered them, irrespective the religion! There is the power could be harnessed. I's explicit to relate the situation in my above post & sorry for being mistaken!
I hope, the gathering went well Amit! PLease post something if you can on that!

Thanks Habeeb for the petition. I wonder it can help lazy politicians of India.... who are busy in 'disaster tourism'.
Yeah Deba, It was greatest gathering of our time. Thanks for sticking to the topic. Certainly 25 percent of the world would not like to see while Hindu, Jews, Buddhist, Christians and other bleed! Only handful of them making all wrong, which is very clear to youth community as well. I hope this will end soon.
