If the Union lost the American Civil War

I've always wondered what the world would be like of the Union lost the American Civil War, and the Confederate States of America was established. How would you think the modern world would have handled their views on slavery? Do you think it would have eventually be abolished under international pressure and sanctions? Do you think the USA and the CSA would have been in an arms race and a tense nuclear standoff, or if the USA would have ever achieved it's international prominence it has today? Would the CSA have been considered a "rouge" state?

You know... I've given that a thought too... here's what I think:
For one, if the CSA prevailed, then slavery and racism (I despise that word) would also stay. Therefore, all these civil rights movements back in the 1960's would be delayed for quite some time. I wouldn't be sure about the arms race between "CSA" and USA, though...
