Taking someone's life in self-defence is pretty serious. Really it's, the very very last resort.
Suicide is also the taking of a life an thus is just as serious.
The are about a million suicide cases every year. Legal suicide would hardly make it more possible, and I can't see any benefits to anyone else. The main problem with making a suicide law is determining when and why the decision to commit suicide can be made.
People don't need the right to commit suicide, because the determinations for things like self-defence are made in retrospect, and there is little point in calling the person who committed suicide in court.

Every breath of a human, every moment of his or hers life in all Religious traditions, their teachings, their guidance, their viewpoints, their perspectives is worth more than a priceless gem. These breaths the human being takes in order to survive in life and the moments of life itself are like the pearls of a necklace. Just as a pearl will embellish the appearance of that neck that wears the necklace of pearls, in the same way the life of a individual is enhanced by that person who looks after the moments of his life. No Treasure trove of any Ruler, no Sultanate of any Sultan, no Kingdom of any King, no Rulership of any Queen in tantamount is equal in value to one moment of an individuals life.

· More people die from suicide than homicide in the USA, in 1997 there were 1.5 times as many suicides as homicide
· Mental disorders (particularly depression and substance abuse) are associated with more than 90% of all causes of suicide
· Males are four times more likely to die from suicide than women are. However , females are more likely to attempt suicide than males
· 2 suicides every day by young people in the UK and Republic of Ireland
· 80% of suicides by young men
· Suicide accounts for a fifth of all deaths of young people
· An estimated 24,000 adolescents self-harmed in 1998 – 3 every hour
· 6,216 suicides in the UK, 439 suicides in the Republic of Ireland
· One suicide every 79 minutes in the UK and the Republic of Ireland
· More than two young people commit suicide every day in the UK
· Suicide figures are double the death toll from road traffic accidents

I see no sense in legalizing suicide. First of all everyone doesn't have the proper privilege to take away life. In fact i see totally no reason as to why we should let people take their lives freely maybe in response to some problems.
The best thing we can do instead of legalizing suicide is to sensitize people on their rights like the right to live. how precious is the of life that we have been given by God yet many would have wished but they have gone short!
Friends, lets run out of these, i think but not judge that those who will be supporting these have some mental problems that also needs to be addressed seriously.
Till then,

I don't think suicide should be legal because, once suicide-prone people are knowledgable of this it will cause some to commit suicide just because they want to break rules.
Although everyone owns their body and are entitled to do what they want with it, I don't think that suicide should be happening at all, anywhere =( --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chantelle Ennis-Charoo

I can't understand the use of legalizing suicide or not.
I mean if the person dies, he can't obviously be condamned (except maybe in a spiritual way), but if he survives I think the only thing to do is to grant him a psycological help.
Then it depends on the cases. I think that people that tryes to commit suicide because of depression and momentaneous insatisfaction must be helped, but I can understand people that commit it when they know they have some kind of mortal disease that will lead them to a certain and terrible death (like multiple sclerosis, or huntington's disease). I mean I wouldn't condamn them.
Of course in all the cases, more than condamning it or not, it's important to grant help and moral support and not to leave ill people abandoned.

There is something that I can not understand well.
Why is it neccessary for suicide to become legal or illegal?
If it was illegal, someone killed himself. So what can law do with a dead body?
Live or death is personal decision.
