What is TIG?? (from our recently developed TIG One-pager)
December 17, 2001 - 10:32 AM
|
|
A Network of youth, organizations, mentors, and initiatives working towards common goals
A Community of young people who are making a difference locally and globally
An Enabler for ideas to grow and change to take place
A Resource of opportunities
A Platform for expression
A Forum for participation
A Concept that revolves around:
Having something that you believe in and being able to ‘take IT’ to the next level…
Creating the 'workplace, learning environment, and resource centre of the future’
What does TakingITGlobal do?
:: inspire :: inform :: involve ::
How?
• Shifting Paradigms through demonstrating the power and potential that young people have to create significant change in the world. TakingITGlobal is creating a new model for working and learning that will foster the skills and attitudes necessary to participate in this global, technological, knowledge-based economy.
• Providing Access to relevant resources and opportunities that relate to the diverse talents and interests of young people.
• Running Programs that identify and develop relevant skills to prepare young people for the future (e.g. IT skills, leadership skills, networking skills). The TakingITGlobal Workshop Kit is a tool designed to help young people facilitate, organize, and implement workshops in their local communities.
• Working on Projects that tap into the skills and expertise of local teams and address local needs. So far, this has mainly been technology development and youth consultation. These projects provide a revenue stream for TIG initiatives.
• Fostering a sense of Cultural Identity through the Global Gallery and other forums that allow for artistic expressions and stories to be shared.
• Engaging new members in an interactive Online Community that allows for new connections to be made, new skills to be developed, and voices to be heard.

yes, thanks for an updated vision/definition of TIG where will this one-pager be distributed? will it be online in .pdf-format so that we can download it and print it, thus using it to promote TIG locally?

it is all that cool stuff in the words "responsible citizenry" that waited for ICT to appear and add the word "creativity" to it.
That is about it
