[Poll] On press freedom

In my country of Canada, a debate is raging amongst readers of The Globe and Mail (a popular newspaper) over whether or not one of its columnists should be fired for an article she wrote where she stated that the First Nations, Metis and Inuit cultures of 400 years ago were less developed than European ones of the same era. Those who want the columnist fired say that she is promoting racism, and that it is not censorship to fire her from her job.
You can read her article here to decide for yourself what you think.
As repugnant as I find the opinions expressed in the article, I am concerned that firing her would be a violation of press freedom. What do you think?
