A TIG Member reported getting the following e-mail about a fake conference claiming to take place in both Canada and Spain. I have included the e-mail below.
When I Googled 'GWCD Canada' I found this site: which lists a few other ongoing scams as well.
Remember that signs of a fake conference include:
-the conference takes place in two different locations
-the conference organizer's e-mail is a free e-mail account (like gmail, yahoo, hotmail)
-asks you to send money via western union

I have to commend your effort on saving TIG members from scammers ,if you continue to inform us on this kind of event ,i dont see any reason why 1 will fall victim.
U have to delete the event from your table to stop futher harm on Loyal members of TIG.

And another ways to track down these scammers are:
* read their profiles
* check if they are freshers (The scammers are always new TIGlers say 2-3months)
* check their activities on TIG
* be conscious who you make friends with
* and kindly remove personal contact (i mean, your personal email addresses) from your personal profile.
I believe this will go a long way to help.

I am not trying to come against or attack any TIG member, but it is high time we started making room for procurement.
Imagine a TIG member who claimed to have come from USA and therefore posted a discussion “Poverty in Ghana” with the attached message “I am an American student looking to discuss the issue of poverty in the country of Ghana. Can not wait to hear back from anyone.”
NOW MY ANALYSIS BASED ON HIS
POST:
- Does any TIG need to request for friends before discussing any issues? No!
- “I am an American student……….” Why telling us and what impact would that make?
- “…..looking to discuss issue of poverty in the country of Ghana ” Why Ghana? And why not American or global in general?
- “Can not wait to hear back from you” Please do not wait till he gets your contacts, desist from such person and further posts.

More ways to identify them are :
* They are freshers
* Sometimes no bio-data in their profiles
* No contact addresses in their profiles
* No Images in their profiles
* They always reside in USA but they are not
* Most them do claim to be females and as such, ask you for a date
* They are always looking for friends on TIGblog and discussion board

As you all would know TIG is working hard to combat the fakers and scammers and it will do US all well if you were to report any of these people or scammers immediately they are discovered. Furthermore, I would suggest that you try not to establish any further contact with them until the issue is resolved this is ofr the sake of security.

I wish also to add additional remarks.
- The international conference or formal event should have a website which contains more details about the event.
- When participation is not free and paid through the internet, you should pay more attention and check the credibility of the hosting organization.

thanks guys for the warning. i have seen the scammers are now send messages using TIGmessanger i have been receiving these of late.
and also send to the personal email address displayed on profiles.
these people think that they can ride on the fact that as man we need women so much as they "pretend" to be women and start talking of love.
they also ride on your belief if you say you are a christian they would want you to fill pity for them......love that is expected of a christian
