[Poll] Child trafficking
October 29, 2008 - 03:32 PM
|
|
It is so sad that despite efforts by some groups and government, child trafficking is still unabated. Why can be a more lasting solution?
Should there be a one world government sanction?
Should arrested culprits be tried by the country's government and law where the crime is committed?
(6 votes for 66.67%)
How can the cartel of trafficked children deport be broken?
(2 votes for 22.22%)

Its sad what a world our children have to grow into,
It all comes down to our laws and guidelines,i believe these are highly misinterpreted,a man who kills 100people and all evidence is gathered goes free after a court proceeding for a reason that finds him innocent as he did not commit these crimes in his right mind.
Where is the world heading, law breakers must be dealt with so that the same is not repeated ever, but tolerance on these matters has made the world very unsafe,i feel for millions of young girls who are forced in sex homes and grow up believing that's the only way of life.
Many others have to labor for awkward hours and there is so much immorality around this scenario in that some big organizations are involved and and abusing the little ones for there benefit only.
The children are our future, what are we investing in.

i feel that we all have to continue to fight for our children's rights....and at some point we shall overcome it!! and i think there should be better laws and more government involvement to help the children and continue to do so until it is fixed.

The traditional society enjoyed a rich communal affinity where the child belongs to every member of the society;each watching on the other. If this is revived,no one that randomly pick up a child and steal he/her away from the community.Government must watch, traditional leaders must watch, churches must watch, schools must watch and every body must watch against the traffickers.

Child trafficiking is a difficult issue to disucss on. In many countries where this does occur, it has happend because a child parents have sold them into it because they are unable to provide for their child. Thus in many communities without many knowing, it has become accepted. For many it is a mean of survival, because many parents do benefit off their children being solicitated.
More awareness needs to be created as many people are oblivious to this even occuring, and do not know the sad reality of it. Also such events occur in the black market where average people to know have acess to. Along with that goverment officails and law enforcment is paid off, so that these people can continue abusing children for their own means.
But i truly believe the most disgusting part of all of this is that, many of the cliental who go for such services are wealthy western men. Prof. in the business world, engineers, docters ect.
This problem i believe will never be solved, but prevention is a key. I.e education

Child trafficking reflects on what we have become as a society. The culprits should definitely be punished. Eventhough there are stringent laws against child labour, they are disregarded, and corrupt officials are bribed to turn a blind eye towards the crime, and more and more children are trafficked into some "mini" work force. Looks like children aren't safe anymore anywhere. I also think that its because of a lot of men who like to sleep with young girls, that little children are being trafficked. When you stop that callous and debasing attitude, a lot more can be achieved on this front.

Where I live, along the Thai and Cambodian border, Human Trafficking is a ridiculously common problem.
When I first arrived I wondered what I could do about it, how could people sell their children! Then I found out the following interesting facts that boggle my mind and deeply sadden me..
- Most people in my area do not know about, or understand completely, what Human Trafficking is.
- The border Soldiers, Police, Military and all other officials that stand at the border also do not know about Human Trafficking, or what to look for.
- It is not just children being sold by strangers. It is generally a family friend or community member that kidnapps the child or a guardian if the child has been given up by their families due to poverty.
- A large proportion of Human trafficking here is young adults. Teen Boys and Girls are offered jobs in Thailand that sound to good to be true. They don't come back...
- Adult slavery and young adult slavery is used in most Asian countries due to Human Trafficking and Corruption.
My organisation undertakes many Anti-trafficking projects in the area and our results are extremely encouraging.
To answer 'what we can do?' I have seen with my own eyes that just simply explaining the risks to the people AT risk makes a difference.
Its great we all know about Human Trafficking and that we talk about it, read about it and write about it. It is disheartening for me to see the people who are most at risk, live in ignorance.

I think child traffickers should be tried where they are caught. Some countries are more tolerant of their citizens' criminal activities overseas. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- find everything @ www.yourfindit.com
