Save the Gays of Egypt!

Homosexuality is legal in Egyptian law, and homosexuals have rarely been discriminated against.
The year 2001 marked the start of a state-supported hunt for gays. A crackdown. On May 11, 2001, police raided a floating nightclub on the Nile that was known to be a "gay hangout," and arrested around 52 men for "debauchery," much have been going on about the "Cairo 52" case. I won't go into details now, but you can check my website [www.gayegypt.tk] for details. Many other arrests have taken place and are taking place now on a regular basis. One of the most common ways that police arrest gay men is by entrapping them on the Internet.
And still, no action is taken. Little is done, to be fair.

u really can't do that here in Egypt, as a lawyer
our law in Egypt , is Islamic Law . (Quran) is the main source for our legislation , so plese check before u talk , as u can't talk that way unless you know, another thing we are a religious country , so if you want to live in our country u should follow our rules, and it is well known about the Egyptian culture and through the History that we are the most religious country, and if you go to a place , u must respect the rules , so i think mr. Dou7a, u don't have exept to respect our culture or try to eimegrate
take care , and try to consuntrate to help your country, cause people thinking this way let our country lose, so try to think in a way that respect the country that gave u a lot ,and it's cultur

yes i agree with u mr abdallah
me also as alegal advisor ,say that gays have no right in Egyptian law,as they are an exception and they are not ethnic group or any biological group they are group of.... lets say biologically men whom are havin sexual intercourse with each other ,which is prohibitted by religion which is the main source of legislation
the aim of prohibitng so,that if we leave those gays like u having there rights it will not be antural society
cause God created us male and female in order to generate and have asfe society and build civilization
so if its possible God would have create only male and leave them having this strange relation
what u want to happen here it means atotal damage of all socail and biological balances in the world
so i advice u if u want to walk on the street being proud of being agay ,idont think that Egypt is asuitable place for doing so
plzz u must not being proud of urself doing so its amisery
if u r a muslim or christian read in ur book and ur find alot
u should respect the culture of the place u live in
and dont say that in other societies its ok with gays like u just see the percentage of AIDS there and compare it with the egyptian rates and then start complaining

I agree with u both Abdalla and Eslam this thing is really abnormal, and this against any holy religin and u can make sure of it by checking all holy books and again If u would like to live in egypt u should respect her manners and respect her people and respect her law and above all of this respect its holy religin Quran and Egypt always welcomes Guest but that respect her.

Homosexuality IS legal...
July 26, 2003 - 09:55 AM
|
|
Click http://www.ilga.org/Information/legal_survey/africa/egypt.htm and http://www.ageofconsent.com/egypt.htm for proof. On the secong link, look for the following line:
EGYPT LAWS: 1. Homosexuality is legal, the age of sexual consent is 18 for all. Egypt does have some regulations concerning "offences against public morals and sensitivities" which could be used against homosexuals.
I won't discuss whether homosexuality is or is not legal in Egypt, because I know it is. Plus, our laws are Islamic-INSPIRED, not 100% Islamic. Around 80-90% of Egypt's laws are based on French laws. I know that too...
On the other hand, if you're talking about values and traditions... Isn't there individual rights? And if there isn't such things in Egypt, then that's a problem in itself. Not everything "represents Egypt, and represents Islam." Not everything is "us," but some things are "me," some things are for the individual. Not everything refelcts the society and the traditions!
Yours,
Mamduh

DO U KNOW WHATS THE MEANING OF THAT , ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE ALEGAL ISSUE IN CONTRARY TO ISLAMIC CONST. SO ITS FORBIDDEN AS IT FORBIDDEN BY ISLAM
AT THE END I WANT TO TELL YOU ONE WORD

This is a wrong translation of Article 2 of the constitution. It's actually as follows:
"Article 2:
Islam is the religion of the state and Arabic its official language. Islamic jurisprudence is the main source of legislation."
Islam's the main source of legislation, not the only source.
Also, let me mention that there's a difference between the Law and the constitution. The constitution mentions that Islam should be the main source of legislation, but actually it's not. A much bigger part of the law in Egypt is French-inspired (including sex offenses). The State, then, is not properly applying the constitution.
Cya!

I don't know much about laws and i think this not the issue here people..
Even IF our laws approve the existence of gays in our society-which i very much doubt- then the law should be changed..just like many other laws..so stop defending ur case by legal advice coz it's uselss
We have more important stuff to take care about than
"Saving the gays of Egypt" how about saving the children of Egypt who may die from poverty and suffer lack of education..
I don't get you Mr.Mamduh!!

Well, Ms Shaimaa. This thread is only concerned with one issue which is the issue of discrimination against gays in Egypt, whether this is a good or a bad thing, with full respect to all the other problems that Egyptians suffer from, which are not issues of this thread. If you feel like starting a new thread about Children's Rights or poverty, go ahead I didn't stop you.

Mamdouh, if u happen to travel abroad e.g.Europe or the USA u will HAVE to obey the rules there whether u like them or not, right? AND i'm sure YOU will..
So why don't u obey the rules of your own country??
WE always complain that we, Egyptians, are losing our identity and uniqueness and people like YOU are the cause!!
Our society is shaped by our religions and tradtions-for both Moslems and Christians - and homosexuality just doesn't fit into the picture!!
I don't know much about the biology of this whole thing..but if u feel like there's no way else for your people than living as gays then fine..do it somewhere else..we'll tolerate that but keep us our country as it is..we have lost more than enough by trying to imitate the western world and by pretending that we can live like them but WE CAN'T..
I have been to Cologne and happened to attend a parade for lesbians and gays..ihad frendz from all over the world in my group..we were all tolerant and just watched but noone wished to see such a thing in his/her country..everyone of us was just wanting to leave this place..
So..take ur ppl out of this country coz we don't need you in here!!
Live in peace somewhere esle..

I totally agree with you Shimaa. People like those are the major cause for the deterioration of our country. And for you Mamdoh, you want to live your life as you like. You want not to be governed by any law or tradition. This life doesn't fit to our country. I doesn''t matter wether homosecuality is legal or not. Our country is governed by rules prescribed from our tolerant religions wether Islam or Christianity. We are also governed by traditions enherited from our oriental origine. There is also something to be taken into concideration. Homosecuality is a disease. You and your likes are abnormal. The natural life regardless to any religion or tradition is that Man loves girls, marry them, and breed sound offspring for the sake of their society. It seems that you don't like to fit with our society wether socially or psychologically or phisically. If so, You have a vast selection of countries. You can migerate to anyone deteriorate it, but please don't touch the traditions of us with your dtructive conceptsOriginally posted by Shimaa83

How could this happen in Egypt?
July 27, 2003 - 06:59 AM

With all my respect for Mr Mamduh, your reading of the Egyptian law doesn't reflect anything more than your selectiveness of the parts you need to prove your case. Why didn't you read that the Egyptian law assertains the implemention of "Rituals and customs" whenever they have a common agreement amongst the society. Do you now anything about the position of Al-Azhar in the Egyptian law? Do you konw that homosexuality is 1000% forbidden by Al-Azhar?
Did you notice that your opinion on the discussion forum is "different" than ALL of the repliers? Does that make sound of your "different" way of dealing with your sexual desires?
Don't you want to have a family, children, and to live as a normal person "in Egypt" at least?
May God lead you to the right thing!
