Hope and Prayer
August 18, 2008 - 08:02 AM

What are Hope and Prayer? What do they REALLY mean to you? Does it truly exist or hold value without the effort of action behind it? Can you have hope without prayer or prayer without hope?

What do you hope for? What do you pray for?

Hopes are changes you want to see in the world. Even when you don't act, they can get you through tough times.

But, without taking action, how do you justify your hope? What is it worth?

Let me ask the question a different way:
For example - as a cancer survivor, one of the things I tend to “HOPE” for is continued good heath. Yet, beyond quitting smoking (twice - 18 years ago and just recently) quitting drinking and stopping high risk sexual behaviors (all within that last 9 years) I’ve done very little to preserve my health. I drink coffee like there’s no tomorrow, I don’t get nearly enough exercise, according to my Body Mass Index I’m a good 20 lbs over weight (even though I don’t look it) and I stay up all night long pondering weighty issues instead of sleeping…. So I ask you, what is my ‘Hope’ of continued good heath really worth?

Prayer is the key God has given to us to change the circumstances around us. Prayer is a natural expression of trust and dependence upon God.

Hope without prayer is an "ILLUSION"

Prayer is a spontaneous and natural expression of love , thanks to our creator. Hope is an expression of faith in ourselves, in others and in God. It is so natural and inspiring that it helps and guides us in the most dire situations.

In that case, I'd say follow medical advice... The actions you take allow your hope to physically become a reality.
Does that answer your question? What is your hope worth to you?

I’ve only recently figured out that “hope” w/out action is pointless. However, I (as an atheist) believe what the faithful call “Prayer” is actually human beings creating & focusing Positive Energy through Positive Thought. I’ve also discovered it isn’t enough. It’s a great starting point but, w/out action it won’t get you nearly far enough in making your hopes a reality. I’m currently investigating ways to become more proactive in my “hopes” for the world around me.

Hope can be a good or bad feeling about what will come on your life. Because, you don't know the future and how your life will be on. But, when we look on the linkage b/w hope and prayer. It can be; hope will be the positive expectation about whether your prayers accepted or not.

It’s like examination, when you make a great effort and sit on examination and don't get result you're expecting, to find out good result that will be hope. Likewise on the contrary.

There is a Hathis or narrative saying Prophet Mohamed Peace of Allah Be upon him, the general meaning of the Hadhis is “each person must live with between ‘Fear and Hope’” each of these things will guide you different lifestyle. If you are beyond these words, your life’s scope will be beyond horizon.
