First, I would like to greet my long-time friends, opponents, foes, etc. here at tig since I was out for some time!
Back to the topics. I have been following the stories about this conflict and am a witness to massive information warfare waged on both sides. For those interested in the topic, the following article does some justice, I believe. Otherwise, while rightly emphasizing disproportionate use of force by Russia, few people are chastising the dictator Saakashvili and his cynical PR campaign to rally the international community behind him.

The outbreak of war in Georgia on Friday offers a disturbing and somewhat surreal taste of what to expect from John McCain should he become our nation's Commander in Chief. Russia and Georgia signed the peace deal, but there is still a significant presence of Russian troops all over the Georgian territory.
What do you think was the main factor provoking the war in Georgia?
