Fitness, is it REALLY necessary for good health?

As I was talking to my mom on a Sunday afternoon I noticed just another commercial on the television trying to sell some sort of machine that promises you fitness without the normal amount of effort fitness usually requires. However, this commercial was clearly communicating another underlying message, the power of image, more importantly a self-image that looks desirable on the outside but may just be unpleasant on the inside...or even worse, unhealthy on the inside.
Here is my question: Is fitness really necessary for good health, or is fitness just the superficial pursuit of beauty and acceptance peddled by the global market to sell fitness machines???[i]

[b]well i am sure that health and physical appearance are linked together with the "exercising" and fitness but the point is what is the most effective way to lose weight without making effort or be tired as u said some adv promote their products just to make people crazy of it !! i mean a commercial purpose
But the safety way is to follow a good diet "Healthy food" and at least practice for half a hour per day any favorite sport and beside that keeping the healthy food and i have tried this for a while ...i lost my weight hardly and unfortunately i couldn't resist living without junk food and chocolates it's terrible[b] >>>>>>

It's not about weight or appearance.
It's about giving your body enough exercise to stay healthy!
If you don't do this, you don't drop dead all of a sudden, but you will certainly feel worse over time.
For example, in my business (dajiudian.info China Hotel Booking) I have to program computers for many hours every day. Now if you sit still for 10 or 20 hours a day (yes, that's not an exaggeration sometimes!) then naturally you tend to get tired and fall asleep. However, there are much more subtle and significant factors relating to exercise that I've noticed. Over time, if you don't exercise, you can't concentrate.
I know this because if I go out and do something really cardiovascular for an hour or two (eg: ride a bicycle up a mountain, play badminton, etc.) then I feel much more awake and able to concentrate for a day or two.
So I guess my point is that exercise has a practical use for your body, and it's noticeable. So don't ignore your need to get some exercise!

Yeah I agree with that, i am in the IT industry also and my god after a good day of trouble shooting and repairing i am done for but whenever I have a training session or do really anything thats going to make me sweat then i can concentrate on my work later on.....probably just a mental thing for me because it makes me feel like I have done something healthy and I can get back to my nice soft chair.

I think that fitness is still neccessary for good health. Although a person may be eating healthy foods I think exercise is still essential in providing the muscles, skeletal system with mobility and movement so they won't become stagnant.

Fitness is very important, essential to good health.
But I think people mix up fitness and being toned and thin. They are very different! You can be fit and have a very healthy heart and lungs and great stamina, and still have a curvy stomach!

I believe that some type of fitness is necessary for good health. Eating fresh, healthy foods such as anything from your four basic food groups [grains, fruits/vegtables, dairy, meat/alternatives] is the key to good health, but in addition fitness should be done.
Being able to exercise the body's muscle systems and groups is essential for avoiding lactic acid buildup. People can get their dose of fitness from simpler forms such as running laps, walking; all depending on their fitness level ability.
Exercise machines I don't think are completely necessary, if natural elements are available for everyone to use. I find that fitness machines and tools become the most useful during the winter season and if you want to be able to exercise in the convenience of your own home.

It is not necessary but must. Fitness makes you energetic and internally healthy. Actually no one is totally free from any kind of infection, though fitness makes far better to improve. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- sun-e-boy (सूर्य)

In my own experience eating healthy foods is more vital than exercising. I mean you could cram in one hamburger after anotehr and go to the gym everyday so you may do ok. But more than likely some health issue will creep in sooner or later. If you eat focused on balance and nutrition (organic, no additives) you will be perfectly in shape without having to exercise. The best weight loss nutrition is probably whole cod liver oil that includes the vitamins A and D. When I started taking it I shaped really nicely.

I think regular exercise of thirty minutes at least 3 times a week is essential for both physical and mental health. I try to take a 30 minute walk in the morning before work every day. It really wakes me up and gives me energy for the day. I would almost consider walking or bicycling a form of meditation. Your surroundings distract you just enough from your daily worries and, when your walk is finished, you have already started the day off with a small success that carries on throughout the day.
I think young people with healthy bodies might not feel the need to exercise, but as you get older, it gets more important.
I noticed the Germans have a hiking/biking culture with many beautiful, well-marked trails leading from the city centers out into the green countryside. After a good bike ride or hike, the Germans treat themselves to some nice fattening food and a beer! One has to enjoy life too!

Fitness is truly for good health -- it reverses heart disease, trim high blood pressure, help treat diabetes. These are some of the INTERNAL benefits of fitness. Now the great part fitness does to you is the EXTERNAL benefits -- it brings the glow of good health physically -- bright skin, lean body and energy to spare.
Not only that, those who are really serious into making fitness as a sport, it gives them those sexy "beach-bod" look. But not all of us are into the gym 24/7 to turn ourselves into sexy, powerful, lean, beach-model like beings, but having a regular fitness exercise 2x or 3x a week for about 30 mins to 1 hour per day will bring about HEALTHY changes inside and outside of your body.
Now that a lot of people are into fitness, businessmen/women are also gearing up fitness as a money-making venture. There's no harm in that but let's hope that what they're selling really works and that they'll bring in more benefits to the populace rather than harm. It's now up to the buyer to purchase one (either product or service) and let him evaluate its effectivity.
Make the change! Be Fit! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- regards,

It truly is essential for a person to excercise to have good health and stamina.Of course it's wise to excercise daily, and maintain good eating habits to lower stress levels and have a healthy lifestyle.
