Guantanamo prisoners
June 12, 2008 - 11:11 PM

i just heard that the supreme court has ruled that the prisoners held at Guantanamo Bay Cuba have the right to challenge their internment. Finally! at last we're doing something about our hypocracy.

we urgently need your financial support
June 13, 2008 - 11:38 AM

The Supreme Court ruled that Guantánamo prisoners have the right to challenge their detentions in court. Help ensure that this victory translates into real rights for detainees.

Your gift today will be matched dollar-for-dollar in helping Amnesty International to continue campaigning to convince Congress to finally ensure respect for the rule of law. And we urgently need your financial support to ramp up the pressure.

Am all for it because they're human beings as well and some of them were just in the wrong place at the wrong time and were caught in the sweep for the real real terrorists and innocent as they may be they're still being held with no rightful convictions through a fair in court trial!!sad

As long as the USA detain these prisoners they have no right to boast to the world about how just and democratic they are. They should stop hiding behind false values and understand that these are fellow human beings that are being used in their schemes.sadsmile

From where I see it, the USA is just trying to exercise its dominance on individuals. Guantanamo Bay lies as nothing more than a plan to draw attention to the 'goodness' the USA is trying to create in our world. But under its facade of fair punishment is a hidden cruelty. The people in Guantanamo Bay are just like each and everyone of us; humans. It's great to witness a step in the right direction, which hopefully, will alleviate the conditions and soften the mistreatment of the prisoners.
