free and fair elections are like beauty it is in the eyes of the "seer"
It depends on who is saying it and it will be very unfortunate to see your elections being interfered by third parties who will try to see their prefered leader occupying the highest office for their imprelistic agenda.
This issue will also depend on the role of the media and how they protray the elections to the outside world. This will shape the opinions of the world and this will also tell if your election is free and fair.

I didn't know there was internal discord in Ghana. It seems to me its more or less stable compared to its other compatriots in the African continent. But yeah, you do have a point. Things might just go the Kenya way. I think regional conflicts have a way of spilling over into neighbouring countries.

I am compelled to reply to the comments made by Sidsayed on the subject of the pending elections in Ghana.
As a Ghanaian, who has recently returned to the UK from Ghana, I would like to add that, yes, the political debate is high on the daily agenda. Political rallies are intensifying, media discussions are drawing great interest from across all sections of the Ghanian population - and I must add, that, not a single political Party has so far advocated violence or shown any intimidation of their opponents. Disagreements do abound on what should be the way forward. Internal discord is something I did not sense nor hear from any section of society. Stability in Ghana is a well cherished climate for which all attempts to destabilize must be challenged from all fronts!
Nothing on the ground in Ghana bares any resemblance to the pitiful scenarios we are experiencing in Zimbabwe or for that matter, Kenya. And thank heavens for that!
Harry (London).

Ghana Politicians are too smart to follow the trends of Nigeria abd Zimbabewe, lets look at this when Ghana was under Formal Pre. Jerry John Rowlings Ghana went to lots of problems and when the time came for him to move off the seat nuthing happened interms off fight or anything like that, tho many were thing ohh he will not let it go easy and all, if anything will happen it denpend on the People associated with the President in Power, Ghana Then selfs know that there will not be any new political party coming to power, they good work of President John Agyekum Kuffour will let the party stay in power. I believe most Ghanaians will agree with me on this.
Ghanaians Believe in God and mostly the southen people like- Ashinti's, Nfanti's, Ga-Accra and the others below Temale are affraid of Blood to fight each other things like that, Ghanaians are toooooo smart to do that. Look at Ghana properly they do this things like British because they were British colony and play like Americans, nothing like fight or go off and i will not go will happen
Thank All For Inputs

Thanks for enlightening me. Ghana is a stable and very well governed democracy. And like you mentioned, Ghanians are wise enough to not let any violence take over any facet of their lives.

Well, I sure hope that they will be fair! Ghana is the shining star of Africa right now, and I can't see any reason why it would devolve to a country of botched elections. However, it is up to you, the citizens of Ghana to ensure that the election remains fair and to report constantly to the outside world to keep anything from happening.
