Dear all,
It is our honor, privilege and pleasure to invite you to take part in the first edition of Sofia International Model United Nations (SOFIMUN) event that will take place in the city of Sofia, capital of the Republic of Bulgaria. In the period 20-27 July 2008 over 150 people are going to debate some of the most significant problems that are of great concern to the international community today.
SOFIMUN gives students the opportunity to experience the working and decision-making process of the United Nations through role-playing in one of the organs simulated, it helps its participants to gain a multicultural view of world affairs and to develop public speaking and debating skills.
The first Sofia International Model United Nations (SOFIMUN) aims to provide to all its honorable participants both excellent discussions and wonderful time in Sofia, Bulgaria with number of additional events, 7 days fully covered accommodation and many, many more …

Committee details:
The SOFIMUN ‘2008 conference will simulate 5 of the UN Councils/ Programs :
• UN Security Council: The situation in Chechnya; Nuclear weapons proliferation in the Middle East
• UN Human Rights Council: Human rights in China; Biometric data gathering
• UN Conference on Disarmament: Biological weapons; Terrorism and disarmament
• UN Environmental Program: Sustainable developments in the energy sector; Desertification
• UN Economic and Social Council: Social entrepreneurship; International cooperation in the fight against corruption
SOFIMUN will also focus on the latest UN initiative – Alliance of civilizations with one additional debate on the last day of the conference.

Registration for SOFIMUN ‘2008 is possible through the conference web site, section “Registration” in three simple steps- You are all welcome to apply on http://www.sofimun.org/participation-registration.php.
Deadline for application is June 30th 2008.
