[Poll] Is Early Retirement Possible?

No one wants to think about working until they're 65, especially not when they're in their 30s. However, as it becomes more expensive to live and our culture of workaholism further habituates us to spending every waking moment pursuing our careers, is it really fathomable to imagine enjoying rounds of golf or the beach while you're still young?
Sports stars and Hollywood starlets take the retirement plunge earlier then most, but is it just because their financially savvy and able? And as the baby boomers dip into their retirement plans, we're left to pick up the financial slack for their tee offs and margaritas, which puts our hopes and dreams for early work relief on hold even longer.
Are you or do you anticipate you will be prepared to take a leave from work decades before you're statistically supposed to?

Hmm... I don't know, I, personally, fear that I won't be able to work until I'm 65. I don't even want to think about retirement (of course, I'm only 21 and I haven't had any real jobs until now, but I think I would feel useless and depressed if I didn't have a job at that age).
Sport stars and Hollywood starlets retire earlier than most not because they want to, it's because they can't do the things that they have been doing anymore - after a certain age, you can't achieve performance in sports and film producers aren't that crazy about you either... And I don't think that actors, singers and tennis players, formula 1 drivers etc. are happy about having to retire. I think that the thought of having to do that is quite scary for some of them.

As I know early retirement is possible, when you work in a dangerous environment. People who risk their lives every day can be retired in their mid 40-s. These jobs are often military ones, like helicopter pilots.Don't think you can retire early, if you are for example a salesman, just because you risk your life every day to be shot for just a few amount of cash.

Early retirement is definitely possible and we (my husband and I) plan on it. Its just a matter of finding the right vehicle that will get you there...we both have full time jobs, but we've been spending a few hours a week in a business development project using a combination of Web 2.0 technologies and e-commerce models that will give us a long term consistent income so that we don't have to be dependent on a full time job. Early retirement is possible, you just have to look for the opportunities! Feel free to send me a msg if you're interested in info on what we're doing :-)
