[Poll] Is PMS An Excuse?

Once a month the beautiful, caring, compassionate, easy-going love of your life sprouts a pair of horns, grows some fangs and makes your life a living hell. From tear-filled crying fits to bouts of extreme anger, PMS has been touted as the culprit for her monthly episodes of erratic behavior.
Is PMS really an excuse for a woman's temperamental behavior, though? At least one Canadian women thinks so; she cited PMS as the reason for her shoplifting splurge -- an excuse that was happily gobbled up by the judge, who handed the woman an absolute discharge.
Is PMS An Excuse?

It might be useful if we were to understand more about PMS first rather than getting into the debate of it being an excuse or not. That will help members respond to the question in an informed manner. PMS unfortunately, largely goes untreated.
PMS stands for premenstrual syndrome. It is a syndrome that affects about 20 to 90 percent of all women who menstruate. The syndrome varies in severity and in symptoms from woman to woman and from month to month. The body of a woman menstruating has cycles every month. The symptoms that make up PMS are believed to be due to hormonal changes each month, the levels that of estrogen and progesterone and fluctuate.

I know from experience, PMS makes a women emotional...but not extremley. It shouldn't turn women into a monster when they are normally an angel. Women use it as an excuse. If a women truly has problems...she needs to see a doctor. Physical activity becomes harder (ESPECIALLY if you're dehydrated) and yes you become a little more sensitive but women neeeeeed to stop acting.
Too many use it as an excuse and it can get embarrassing towards other women. I'm, personally, tired of men saying "Oh, shes just PMSing" or "It's that time of the month huh?" when I am sincerley upset.
With women making it more exaggerant than it really is, only makes it harder on us in the end...men will never take us seriously or see us a component if we keep making exuses "once a month".

Is PMS an excuse or not? it is some issue that is not definite. I am no specialist on PMS but i think that though it may cause mood swings, it should not be extreme.

PMS affects every woman that menstruate every month. I have pre-PMS mood, PMS mood and post-PMS mood!
I really dont like it but i believe it is due to the hormonal changes in the female body. If you love your GF or wife, THEN dont try to argue with her during her PMS unless you didnt know about it, cos little arguments always lead to big fights and break-ups if you are not careful enough!

Truth be told, I don't think the specification of PMS does good to the debate of it because sexist ideas may come up.
Does any type of pain and/or discomfort justify a rough attitude?

I think that PMS is a legitimate condition that can cause emotional imbalance in women. I can even be extreme imbalance if there is a history of mental illness in that persons medical background.
However, I think that many women also use PMS as an excuse so they can get away with certain things.
