CAN A NATION NATURAL RESOURCES BE A CURSE

Yap that's that the big ?.The seemingly never ending contradiction that we find in Africa where countries with huge Natural resources are dirt poor, engaged in civil wars, corruption etc
Take the case of three countries,DRC Congo,Nigeria and Angola.
DRC is a basket case yet she has every mineral u can imagine, her people are enslaved by local militias to exploit the resources which find their way in the international markets. Who is to blame for such a situation?
Nigeria portrays a sense of order but the corruption in the the oil industry is just too high, the local people benefit in no way from her oil revenues??????
At least Angola is on the right path......Kudos
But can somebody tell me
Can a county resources become a curse/??
Can a nation export food when it people are starving?
Can cheap labor fail to attract investment?
HAVE A GREAT AFRICA DAY ITS TODAY????

the topic you chose is a good one is on my heart if you know what i mean.
The area of resource based conflicts in my area of study and its amazing the underlying realities you find if you study them. What drives these conflicts?
Without playing the blame game lets go historical- In DRC who killed Lumumba and why? In Angola who was behind Savimbi? In Nigeria what are the countries of origin of the multinational companies like shell mobil etc that are exploiting oil there? Sudan who is arming the rebels?Diamonds in Seirra Leonne? I can go on forever listing example of resource based conflicts. There is some thing that is identical on all these and they point to one country-the US and her allies yeah the so called super powers and champions of democracy!. Savimbi was reportedly on CIA payroll, Lumumba was killed in the hands of the UN reportedly by the CIA again. For the rest i will leave you to do the study on your own lest i will be accused of spending my time hating US.
