Alright, sorry for going off topic, but I did start with my view on the UNUDHR, and then this person started attacking Islam and I was trying to defend it.

We are dusicssing the UDHR, and not your particular views on Islam. I urge all participants to maintain the topic of this discussion.
Are they currently not intertwined?
Moreover, I can prove to you, by numbers, that during the past 3 decades, most victims of violence/terrorism were not linked to Islam, unlike what you perceive.
That should be interesting.
I believe in those Islamic texts, and I do not find them matching with what you say. If you would like to discuss this subject, you can do it on another relevant thread, since this is off-topic.
TIG, just like the UN itself, a really good idea with good intentions with monitors who flex over the net. Who left to their own devices, happily tell people what to say or think, even worse how to discuss. All whilst being utterly convinced that THEY are the good guys.
"TakingITGlobal.org is the social network that connects you to the global issues that affect us all."
All - Not just you and your views or my views. All views - try and remember that.

The UN was made with good intentions . . . yeah, but its not so good now.
Veto power for a select few countries + Open vote = Not fair.
And about most acts of terrorism being committed by non-Muslims, you need not look farther than Israel itself. The Offensive Invasive Attack against Gaza in the beginning of the year wiped a ridiculous amount of people, something like 1,500 in a matter of weeks. And what do you think the US army is doing in Iraq? The US sanctions on Iraq killed a million children, is that enough for you?

12,000 terrorist attacks committed by Muslims since 9/11/01 (a rate of about three or four a day) Are you making a point?

1. Define "Terrorist Attack"
2. Prove It
3. No, the KKK website is not an acceptable source.
4. Neither is Zionist.com

Still don't see where you get 12K terrorist attacks a year by Muslims.
And even if that were true, why should you blame Islam for this? The people who carry out terrorist attacks simply use religion as an accessory to gain followers and attempt to justify their actions. They misinterpret Islam and twist it to suit their own political needs.

Interesting read
One can always find apologists willing to dismiss the harsh rhetoric of the Qur'an with creative interpretation, tortuous explanation or outright denial, but their words and deeds almost always belie a concern for Islam's image that does not extend to Islam's victims - at least not with the same sense of urgency - thus proving the point.

Could you show an example of this "harsh rhetoric" to back up your claims please?
And let me correct you when you say "Islam's victims". You mean "victims of the Muslims".

hey rosalind, I appreciate what you have conveyed regarding the disturbing subject of the universality of Human rights. a conscious being who feels a sense of self importance vis à vis the world in which he or she dwells cannot take for granted the perceived atrocities which individuals go through in a life time experience. what is of primordial importance importance remains on how to slowly bring together the souls from different backgrounds for the sake of grasping Human essence's dignity, and enjoying it, in the midst of any kind of societal system. we, Human beings, are part of nature; the dignity of the person can be found in the corner of any street; it's about stories of mankind...making change depends on who we are, and on how we react to the stage of life. thank you for sacrificing some minutes of your time dedicated to the generosity of the ego; thank you for exploring the adventures of the things that are too complex to be put in a shell. Hicham

Lots of examples already posted

Is there a difference? None.

1. I see no examples of quoting anything from the Quran or Hadith
2. There is. The Muslims are different from the religion of Islam. They don't follow the faith perfectly so obviously they aren't the same thing.

I can give you plenty, if that's a road you really want to go down?
No there isn't if Islam was perfection then it would be followed perfectly. No one person would stray from the path.
Universal Declaration of Human Rights is now simply a farce. The OIC will make such a complet joke - if they already haven't. They want Islam to be a protected religion that cannot even be criticized, while all other religions will be fair game - especially in Muslim countries. An Islamic council undoubtedly will have the final say as to what comments will be "disrespectful" of Islam.
The resolution is a good example of how far the UN has fallen from the ideals expressed at its founding. Far from being a force for peace, the UN is now a club for tyrants, controlled by nations that have no concept of civilized behavior. Time for the UN to follow the League of Nations.

Any ideal can be followed imperfectly, your atheism is of course a prime example.
