Why act?

What is is that makes you act? What makes you write and rhyme and rock or cry or run and dance, sing, scream, enjoy, revoke, annoy, or anything else that you might possibly do to show your emotions, ideas, feelings, thoughts, same of different from others, about whatever it is that moves you, touches you, gets to you or makes you think?
I want to know why people do what they do about what they choose. What is it that makes you decided that the issue is worth your time addressing it? And how do you address it?

It is different for everyone, but for me acting is about the stepping into a different person. About experiencings emotions you would never experience, do things you wouldn't do. You can let your emotions guide you, which most people can't do often. After a while you feel like you do experience the same emotions as the character. Its also about the performing. Not about people listening, really, but about you being given a chance to speak.

I agree completely, and it is an amazing thing to be somebody your not. But I'm also wondering why people do what they do in the overall, not simply the literal sense of Acting
