Obese people ugly?

Well, i usually hear now and then that fat (obese) people are ugly. And i totally diagree, just because one person is obese doesn't mean they are ugly. This idea is usually because of the media ex. stick skinny models, celebrities etc. That is why people are so afraid of people judging them for there weight, which ends up to diets, anorexia, bulimia and other eating disorders. Please tell me what you think!

no. there are some very beautiful obese people. one is this Hawaiian musician. i can't remember his name, but he was beautiful. i think it's more the way one carrys oneself. those people who accept themselves carry themselves differently and almost always are beautiful. the beauty of good hearted people also shines through. i like the movie Shallow Hall. in it, the main character is hipnotised so that he can only see people's inner beauty and quits judging people on outer looks. i think thats how all people need to look at one another. by the way, there is a Hawiian guy in that movie who is beautiful too.

Obese people are said to be ugly because of what the media says. I just did an essay on this topic, how media has defined what beautiful is to us, and we can no longer define for ourselves what beautiful is. The media has glorified thin and tall as beautiful, but what about the rest of the world, which is in the billions, who is so called "fat"..."overweight", those are the people that should be shown in the media. These thin women are not what represent the true people of this world. Big, voluptious and average people are what is beautiful.

obease people have feelings too! who's idea of ugly are the people who are calling these obease people ugly?? everyone is unique and different in their own ways !! that dosent make them ugly!! if obease people are "ugly" then who is to say that the stick thin models are ugly for being different too!!

Beauty is that which pleases the eye and the mind. So why can' t obese people be beautiful? After all beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. However extremes of skinniness or corpulence can be distasteful and ugly. Thus moderation is a key here.

Obese people are not ugly, just look at the models for 17th century art. In fact, I have issues just with that word. When we're in a society that favors thinness, then our medical models tend to as well. For instance, what was a healthy normal weight for a woman in the 1950s is now considered overweight. Furthermore, according to BMI medical qualifications that say you have to be a certain percent below you're normal weight to be diagnosed with anorexia, I, at 5 ft, would have to weigh 72lbs or less before I would even be diagnosed as anorexic. To me that's just sad because people wouldn't be receiving help when they need it. So I say, embrace your curves, as long as you're healthy and happy, that is all that matters.

There's curvy and there's obese. Curves can be pretty. However there's a point where it stops being pretty and it's like cuddling a blob of jello.

there is NO UGLY people in this world
we just have UNCONFIDENT people in this world
so..if obese people happy with all they have including their big size body, the will be CONFIDENT.

A good friend of mine is big-boned, and people call her fat. And her BF and I think she is beautiful.

My sister is obese but shes a wonderful, beautiful, funny person. When she was 7 we found out that her kidneys weren't where they were suppose to be and her she needed reconstructive surgery on her bladder so that everything had to be wired together and her fat actually helps keep everything in place. SInce then shes been a bigger girl and I've had to watch her suffer for it, with kids following her around school spraying perfume at her, thinking her being fat makes her smelly. Or girls in her class asking if she likes a boy and when she replies no they tell her good because shes too fat for anyone to like her. Those are just examples of things she deals with on a daily basis. She won't even try dating even though shes 21 because shes convinced shes too fat for anyone to ever like her. It makes me sooo angry. To me, anyone who can deal with this treatment daily and still be a nice caring person deserves peoples respect and love and their strength in character makes them beautiful despite their outward appearance!

Obese people are people just like us! they are not ugly! I mean.. .some of them are mean and some of them are the kindest people in the world!..
But they are people...
I hate when people discriminate others just because of their appearance....

Being obese doesn't make you ugly.
If you are ugly, then
I think people with kind faces (surprisingly the ones who tend to be kinder) look prettier than people who frequently scowl.
I disagree with plus size models, because modelling is about forcing people to conform to a certain opinion of beauty in order to model. Of course, I don't like ordinary models either.
But honestly, beauty is a matter of opinion, and yes, that means that people who grew up learning beauty from TV are as correct as the people who see the beauty in everyone.
I have my own opinion of beauty but I don't let it get in the way of how I judge people.

In the world (north America) specifically beauty is the typical 'model look' and a lot of people constantly compare themselves to this in hopes of fitting in.
More specifically with the statement "obese people are ugly" I think is an incorrect statement to make for sure.
I personally believe that there are different kinds of beauty and that more of them should be protrayed in the media.
But I do however disagree with people being so obese that they are endangering their own health because afterall your health on the inside is the most important because its what keeps you alive at the end of the day.

I think that the beauty is exists within the person, despite how their body looks. People listen to the media too much, and a certain body image has been established. People should start to demolish this image.
