Are Africans really stupid?

For a long time, The Western Worlds ( The Developed Worlds ) have always perceived Africans to be very stupid and illiterate. Some have gone to the extent of writting inflamatory stories about our dumbness, in most cases exposing our lack of understanding and persistent call for help to the developed worlds as the main factor that justifiers their claims.
As a native African, struggling to make ends meet and to help fellow Africans to achieve an everlasting peace in an ever volatile continent, I tend to disagree with most people who see this as a fact and instead challenge those that believe that we are the underdogs to kindly look at us in a rather passive way instead of judging us negatively and hurting us more.
I love the West, I have been in the West more than twenty times and I would not hesitate if an opportunity arose once again. I love the Westerners like I do to my fellow brothers back here in Africa and only ask that you please show and express a little empathy to our problems and you will get to understand us better.

Are Africans stupid? No more or less stupid than people elsewhere in the world.
BUT...if an African leader destroys his country's economy, creates 100,000% inflation and 80% unemployment, forces a third of his population to flee the country in search of food, then loses an election, but refuses to relinquish power
AND...other African leaders refuse to criticize him because he was once a leader in the African independence movement
THEN...we can say these African leaders are really stupid.
About as stupid as "Weapons of mass destruction, ooops, no weapons of mass destruction, ooops, 4,000 dead American soldiers, ooops, $3 trillion down the drain, but it was still a good idea" George Bush.

the correct position is there is no official results yet so noone is refusing to reliquish power.Belgium took them 8 months to publish their results and did the EU criticize them.
why cant you let the due process take its course and stop lying that someone is holding to power.
Its also a fact according to independent tallies none of the candidates got the required threshold so there is need for a rerun so where is this nosense of refusing to reliquish power coming from?*

why is the west so obssessed with making themselves look more intelligent and cultured? in fact, they are the ones having lost ties from nature and spirituality. that's why they go to the other part of the world to get nearer to nature and self.
if it is that only the africans are stupid, where do we say george w bush came from? he is the most stupid person in the world.. looking out for reasons to get his own people killed.
stupidity is a person's individual trait. people shud not be tagged labels just because of where s/he comes from.

amen i agree very much we are not stupid as they want us to believe through their media movies.have you ever seen in american movies how blacks die or they are the first to die?they want us to appear stupid

I really don't think africans are stupid. No one should be called stupid. Because no one is stupid. Some people know things that others don't, doesn't mean that they are stupid.

I think the ones who called african are stupid is the one who really are stupid. They don't know that africans are still human with feelings and have all the rights to be treated same as with other people in the world. It's too sad to know that there are so many races in this world.

You know what brother, if i were to choose any place in the world, that would be Africa and particularly Uganda my home country. Let no man call Africans stupid. Africa is a blessed continent and Africans are a blessed people. Simply because some people cant see this doesnt mean that we aint blessed.

Fellow Africans, we are not stupid, we are smart people, we are hard working, we are happy, we love one another and so we should stand strong and never let no one slur our pride by calling us names. The east, the central, the west, the south and north African states, lets unite and make Africa a beautiful continent.

The problem in the Western is that people have really bad self-confidence. People are afraid of things that are different from what they know. If people are unhappy with their own lives they want to blame somebody, and then they chose to blame people who have something that is different from themselves, for exempel black skin. The problem doesn't lie within the Africans, it's a problem of the Western world. People need to get more broad-minded.
I think that Africa is fantastic and I also think that black skin is very beautiful. Be proud of yourselves, wherever you come from!

Sorry to say : but This is really a stupid question ! Are Africans reallly Stupids....how come you can ask such question. Just for the reason that the people of that country couldnt make a stable government it doesnt means that they are stupid....it is because of some people who are involved in making violance and destruction.
I am an Afghan from afghanistan but am working here in JHB South AFrica..i have heard alot of such stupid questions regarding Africa, but you know i am loving my existence in South Africa....they are developed and doing well.

The situation of Africa and African is not understood my many, most of whom do not reside in this part of the world. If for anything, we only experience bad leadership which cannot be compared to the hurricane and other disasters that the developed country experience, we should know that we are the best Continent but we just have to pay attention to the challengies that we are facing.
Bad leadership has eaten into our culture and degraded the essence of our fruitful existence, which has really built a comfortable home for corruption to stand without shame. But this scenerio is of old. Today, young and old Africans are striving and waging war against Corruption so that we can benefit from our dear democracy. It is not about Africans been stupid but it's about us been able to strive more and die in the course of our pasion which is transparency, good governance and accountability of every public office holder.
We have stop been stupid ever since we took it upon ourselves to fight and stand for our civic rights generally as young people. Today, we can boost of some level of achievement and we are hoping for the struggle to continue and eventuall we will create a continent that will be free of corruption and illegal acts.
That day, i see citizens of developed country running down to Africa for citizenship, begging to hold an African passport and selling off their properties just to come reside in Africa.
This is possible if we continue the struggle and hold ourselves accountabale to the society!

Yes and No
Yes because we don't walk to future in the footsteps of our ancestors and we failure to accept that our ancestors have influence on us and five centuries ago we has moved from empirical knowledge and their own self to the conquest of the space
Yes! because we has lost our references due desire to give scientific explanation to everything take us away from the essence of life which is vibrating and invigorating
we don't how we live because today after the independence, international economic systems and a new atmostsphere of globalization do not offer any promising prospects to Africa which has been rendered fragile and fragmented by its history
