I´ve heard of the idea of oil being used to effect weather.

I suppose if you covered most of the world´s oceans you could also change climate by reducing evaporation and making the planet absorb more sunlight. One would need a sophisticated mathematical model to figure out what that will cause.
However, oil spills eventually break up and it is unlikely that enough oil will be dumped into the ocean to cover the entire thing.

Oil spills are a huge cause of pollution in the environment. The oil in the ocean starts to take a toll on hte water the minute the touch. The spills may not be a direct effect of climate change, however they are not good for the environment either way. The spills kill animals and contaminate our drinking water. It is a problem that needs a solution.

Oil being a hydrocarbon, easy to scoop. Oil is lighter than water in terms of density. Any oil spillage can affect weather patterns in the short run.It decelerates the biodiversity of a particular area.It has taken 20 years to restore the EXXON MOBIL VALDEZ off Prince William spillage in Alaska.
Oil suffocates both aquatic and terrestrial ecological systems. Sea animals hide in the mangroves, hibernate and produce off springs, when the wetlands have a toxic layer of oil,the plants cant function. Trees are poisoned, withered, and the result is beach erosion and subsequent inundation of coastlines
