as of this morning press release its now Zanu pf of Mugabe 92 seats and the opposition 91 while minor parties have 5 seats.there is now a possiblitity of a runoff in the presidential race.
its still boggles my mind why the US and EU are demanding the results and some comments made by Condoleeza Rice or should i say Lies.

We will wait and see and i will keep you posted.

It boggles my mind why you are lying to TIGers about the situation in Zimbabwe. I know you are a Mugabe supporter from your posts in other threads.

The facts: Lower House seats won:

Opposition MDC 107
Mugabe's ZANU 97
Other 4

Mugabe is now planning a massive violent crackdown to negate these election results. He has started rounding up foreign journalists and his goons have ransacked opposition election offices.

Deputy information minister Bright Matonga, a senior ZANU-PF lawmaker threatened, "In terms of strategy, we only applied 25 percent of our energy into this campaign ... That (the run-off) is when we are going to unleash the other 75 percent that we did not apply in the first case."

Given ZANU's unpopularity, this probably means the state security forces will be unleashed to murder the opposition.

i was giving updates and the ones you have quoted are the final results which i was yet to update.Agreed Mugabe has lost the lower house and probably the presidency or we may see the a runoff which i dont think its a good idea for such a polarised nation as ours. A proper transtion is now on the cards. My postings are meant to give on the ground information on the happenings in my motherland. Iam here and i know what is happening and my advice is dont believe everything you haer or see in the media. After the election media has the information that Mugabe has fled the nation and surprisingly he appeared on the state tv biding farewell to the observers.
senatorial results have started to be released and as i speak its a tie 5 each and we are patiently waiting for the all results.
Patience is a virtue and remember the uniqueness of our elections harmonised and the complications they involve.
I will keep you posted as soon as i have more results.

Thanks Cool guy for your update, but I think gradually the maddy water is getting clearer and clearer, right?

From BBC news I heard the opposition is leading in Parlimentary seats. They got about 93 seats.

And unofficially opposition got about 49% of the presidential vote. So there will be a possible run-off.

Am I correct?

rumors, speculation, lies accusations and counter accusations, court applications etc.these ahve been the characteristics of the zim election held more than a week ago.
now i think we are headed for the dreaded runoff.with Zanu pf saying theyare prepared for it and an opposition which is claiming victory.though it is now common knowledge that o candidate has the required 50 plus % required by the constitution for one to be duly elected.Senate results were published and Zanupf has won 30 seats and the remaining seats being split between the two MDCs.the much awaited presidential results are yet to be released and it seem this going to take longer that anticipated.
Romours of secret meetings and negotiations are the order of the day but suprisingly every side denies such talks.
Again will keep you posted but i must say tension is mounting and guys please pray for us we dont want bloodshed in this our beloved land of Zimbabwe.

suspension is now the major characteristics of the election outcome. No clear information seem to be forthcoming but most likely the election are going for a runoff.People are in suspense no one really know what the future holds.Different media reports are coming through.Reports of secret meetings, deals and negotiations accusations and counteraccusations seem to be the order of the day these days.We dont know the truth now and the media is fueling all these rumors.
Im keeping my ears on the ground and i will keep you posted in the meanwhile an interesting article for all to see

well what an eventful time that we have seen.
The High Court dismissed with costs the application by the opposition trying to force the electorial authorities to release the result.Zim was almost smuggled on the UN SC agenda on Wednesday.
Allegations of vote rigging flying from all directions.
A flop of a stayway by the opposition its becoming interesting.
Brown already taken side of the opposition and 'declared' them a winner.
Its becoming interesting again will keep you posted. It needs you to be on the ground to see the mood of the people and its life goes on here.

Results are FINALLY out the long wait is over.
An analysis of the presidential election results shows that President Mugabe, though trailing Tsvangirai on the popular vote by five percentage points, won in six out of 10 provinces. President Mugabe won in Mashonaland Central 65,3 percent to Tsvangirai’s 31,4, Mashonaland East 55 percent to 40,9, Mashonaland West 52,8 percent to 42,1 percent, Masvingo 49,5 percent to 45,9 percent, Matabeleland South 38,5 percent to 29,3 percent, and Midlands 48,8 percent to 44,8. While Tsvangirai won Harare 72,3 to 19,5, Bulawayo 51,4 to 11,5, Manicaland 57,4 percent to 38,4 percent, and Matabeleland North 46,7 percent to 28,3 percent.

An analysis of the House of Assembly and Senate poll results, however, shows that Zanu-PF beat MDC-T in both Houses amassing 45,94 percent of the vote to MDC-T’s 43,56 in the Senate; and 45,94 percent to 42,88 in the House of Assembly suffrage.

Put simply, more people voted for Zanu-PF than MDC-T in the parliamentary elections while more voted for Tsvangirai than President Mugabe in the presidential contest. And since the run-off will be determined by a first-past-the-post system, Zanu-PF’s supremacy in the popular vote, no doubt, is giving Tsvangirai goose bumps.

So much about the results

The election results have been announced; however, I still have to say something on what is happening.

People are manhandled anyhow, yet our leaders in the Sadc region are doing nothing.

This should be a learning point for some of us who wish to be politicians one day - or we are ones already. Let us learn to be humane, and avoid situations as the the one gripping Zimbabwe.

This is really sad cheer-leading for Mugabe. So what if he won 6 out of ten provinces? He lost the popular vote. Mugabe's ZANU got 45.94% of the votes in the Senate election and 45.94% in the House Assembly election? Setting aside the appearance of incredible laziness on the part of the Election Forgers (how can you get the exact same vote percentage in both Senate and House?????), this means 54.06% of Zimbabweans voted against Mugabe's ZANU. Given the non-stop government-led terror campaign against the opposition before, during, and after the election, it was amazing that the oppositon did as well as it did. You have to remember more than a quarter of Zimbabweans have fled their country to escape the terror. If they could have voted Mugabe wouldn't have come close.

Latest "White Man in a Black Skin" to call for international intervention in Zimbabwe is Nobel Peace Prize winner Bishop Desmond Tutu: "It would be in everybody's interest to send an international peacekeeping force to Zimbabwe. That is the only way to ensure no violence will be exerted."

dkaiyo,

I do not speak for the United States. I speak as a human being, a citizen of the Earth. Stop trying to deflect attention from the atrocities in Zimbabwe by changing the subject.

Bishop Desmond Tutu is a Nobel Peace Prize winner. His reputation is safe from attack by blood-stained Mugabe supporters. Former UN Ambassador Kofi Annan's reputation is likewise safe form scurrilous racist attacks.

The voices calling for Mugabe to respect democracy and stop his violent campaign, which has killed 43 members of the opposition, are increasing.

Some people cry about migrant Africans being killed in South Africa. These same people should also cry about violence against their own people in their own country! While not all migrants being terrorized in South Africa are Zimbabwean, many are and it is an outrage that they had to flee to South Africa to find safety from Mugabe's thugs.

Mugabe should be in South Africa seeking for asylum, not 25% of Zimbabwe's population. In the name of humanity, let's stop the murdering whether its in Kenya, South Africa or Zimbabwe. Let's stop making excuses and trying to deflect the world's attention.

Why do some people make a pact with the devil? Is any government job worth the suffering or murder of another human being? Some people should ask themselves this question.
