what i don't like in the Philippines is that people are politically preoccupied. there is a great clamor for power and the desire to stay in power!
as my homeland,i like the philippines because its where i was burn. despite of all bad things happening i still consider it as a paradise! a paradise of nice and loving people, a paradise of beautiful islands!

This reply i find is fascinating.
I also have a friend who can't tell the difference between caucasians. As in not being able to tell the difference between Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt.., Same goes with the blacks.
I'm sorry for the digression, I guess this can be a cultural phenomenon.
Anyways, I love the Philippines as it is. Since it is where I live, my home, I haven't been to another country yet, but if ever I study or work in Europe soon, I would still want to be back in the Philippines.
I love the people here, the scenery and the festive atmosphere.
I don't like the political scenario, it's kinda dirty. Many of those that are elected lacks accountability and are obviously using their position to get wealthy.
Anyways, I am still hopeful that things will be better for our country soon. I believe the youth will already learn from the mistakes of the oldies.

I don't like the corruption, the centralisation of wealth and power while many people are poor.
I was amazed at the slums surrounding Manila, it was like Mexico in the movies, or some kind of post-apocalyptic holocaust.
I'm sorry I only got to see corruption and poverty against the backdrop of Makati, since I was there for business just for a few days.
But I still found it shocking, and I haven't been back since.

Mr. Stanish,
I am happy that you have visited my country even just for a while, though few days of staying is not enough to know us better. But dont worry, we Filipinos are understanding, and we dont deny the fact of the existence of the poverty and other socio-economic issues in our nation. I am glad that you are honest to say what you observed and you just did not judge us based on what you hear or what you read without seeing it for yourself. Anyways, thank you for being honest, and I hope you visit our country again but this time to know and to discover the things that you may like. More power to you! and Mabuhay!
