Now days there is massive killing of albino in Africa
, example in
Tanzania , this is due to bad believing of getting more wealth so as we member of TIG lets fight against this bad believe to make sure that all disabled people are living free without any worrying about their life especial ALBINO.

can you share further information and links on the issue? it will useful for others to join in the discussion.
and the statements somehow also raise the issue- what do we understand by disability? do we all face it in our life sometime or the other? is it a stigmatizing term used for some...of does it talk about diversity in humn beings..that needs to be respected.

I was looking for more informaiton on the issue. Also found something at http://allafrica.com/stories/200704220245.html
it says:
Albinism, for the records, is a genetic condition akin to sickle cells anemia that renders persons or animals unnaturally white in skin and hair, with pink eyes, due to a quirky lack of natural colouring materials or pigments called melanin that gives natural colour to normal species.
For all largely unscientific, superstitious and unfounded reasons, albinos, in most traditional African societies, have suffered very grievous discrimination and deprivations, even from the well-educated and governments.

That's true!
It's just unfortunate that they are considered less human in some other African nations.

Apparently these killings are more widespread than was evident in our initial discussion. And apparently this is more than stigma, we're actually talking about ritual killings.
I just read this article: Deadly harvest of body parts
This is horrific. How accurate is this report? And what exactly is going on? Why are these beliefs and killings so widespread? Something is very wrong. Anyone know what's happening on the ground?
