Is prostitution a victimless act (?crime)

Many people have argued that there is no victim in prostitution. The argurment is that prostitutes willingly want to be prostitutes, but we know it is not always the case. Sex tourism and prostitution is an international enterprise worth billions of dollars. While prostitution is not a crime in some countries (under certain arrangements), it is a serious crime in many countries. The question is whether prostitution is a victimless crime. Have your say.

Well. I think that prostitution (a person who has sex with other person for money) is a victimless act depends on the case.
As you know, it is illegal in some countries of the world, but in other countries prositutes have even health care from the government.
It can be a victimless act if the person who is being the prostitute does not want to do it.....

If we look at the process of how women reach a stage where they get involved in sex work, it will be very clear how the woman is actually a victim.
If we only focus on the present and say "she is in it beacuse she wants to. otherwise she would have come out of it"... then we are overlooking the circumstances which brought her in. The impact of those circumstances cannot be overlooked. Sex work is one of the significant reasons for Human Trafficking

There are hundreds of thousands of documented cases of human trafficking where the women were told they were being helped to migrate overseas, only to see themselves forces to sell their bodies for the financial benefit of the madam(s) who had brought them to these western countries. Often times, these people are brought into countries of the west with fake passports and no real form of genuine identity. The fact is that most of these women are held hostage and in bondage, and though they may realise that they are in a deep predicament and can (and should) alert the police, they don't because of the fear of being deported or even killed by the pimps if they find out what is happening. I think together we should speak out against the inherent dangers in travelling overseas with people one casually or barely knows. It may turn out to be hoax!

Women to who sell their body for sex are victims in one way or another. How did she get there in the first place? most prostitutes come from many poor conditions, such as being abused by parents who use drugs or an older boyfriend, are struggling with money and see no other option or one the biggest reasons because they are trafficked and are forced to be sex slaves. Women as well as little five year old girls sold and brought overseas to brothels, massage parlors and stripped clubs, mostly drugged and held against their will. We do not think this is going on in the world but sadly it is. Lets open our eyes and see what really is going on around us, lets question more and try to help in one way or another these women. Inform yourself, inform others and help because your daughter, sister or cousin could end up in the wrong place at the wrong time, get drugged up and get sold to traffickers in any place of the world.
