CIA head Michael Hayden told Congress it had only been used on three people, and not for the past five years.
He said the technique had been used on high-profile al-Qaeda detainees including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.
Waterboarding, condemned as torture by rights groups and many governments, is an interrogation method that puts the the detainee in fear of drowning.
Mr Hayden was speaking as National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell presented his annual threat assessment.

I'd betcha that they actually use it on more detainees than what they'd admitted or ever will admit.
They don't think of anyone 'not one of 'em' as humans.

Omer (R.A) was once passing through a bazzar when he saw, a governor torchoring a person for a crime in public,
Omer got very angry at governor and told him that he is not only torturing a single person but all people around watching,
so announcing news in media about this torture is like torturing all muslim,

that does not mean it is bad,
cia was doing what it takes to stop terrorism which i believe should be done.
such a technique is not against humanity because terrorists are inhuman.

History is repeating itself...no arrogant superpower survived its ultimate decline especially when it justified aggression after aggression.
Obviously..some people are never willing to learn from the lessons of the past.

"no arrogant superpower survived its ultimate decline especially when it justified aggression after aggression."
Umm... "Justifying aggression after aggression"
this is interested and hypocritical from someone who supports Hamas.
Hamas has done far worse - even to other Palestinians. When they took over Gaza they threw people off rooftops and executed people in the streets.
Palestinian you rationalize suicide bombings - yet you point the finger at the US over waterboarding - total hypocracy.
That said - the US needs to hold itself above the tactics of the enemy. WE should not have to become them - to fight them.

i watched a great movie called "Rendition" that i believe covers this issue well. here are some important quotes (watch this movie if you have a chance)
Douglas Freeman: In all the years you've been doing this, how often can you say that we've produced truly legitimate intelligence? Once? Twice? Ten times? Give me a statistic; give me a number. Give me a pie chart, I love pie charts. Anything, anything that outweighs the fact that if you torture one person you create ten, a hundred, a thousand new enemies.
I fear you speak upon the rack,
Where men enforced do speak anything.
- William Shakespeare

Guatamano Bay will forever haunt Bush and the other perpetrators of the inhuman torture on the untried prisoners. That is if they have a conscience!
