I do not think the 80s do affect the future. When we measure time, which has three components, PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE, and as part of this process, the 80s do affect the 90s and 00s, which does not mean that the rest will be too. Since 80s were those times explosions in information technology, the leading field for nowadays, were happening. That is the only reason may be. But as Arnold Toynbee said, it is up to us to choose also the regrss in technology if this does not help us splve many of our problems.
One thing i observed about this aspect of our planet , and especially those people who are involved in the field, i can say most of them are very poor and ignoramus in the many humanitarian aspect, meaning in social and spiritual dynamics. As I observed, in fact few of them are arrogant, deceivers, and tend to claim that they know every thing, and are leaders in all scope.
As choice is up to us, we can choose not to be manipulated, and deceived, but rather be cautious against the move of the 80s, and correct the beliefs and concepts originated and widespread all over so that we can be governed by 00s than the 80s.
Respect,
Dereje
