live without regrets. every time you are trying to decide if you should take a risk, think "will i regret this if i don't do it?"
you are not everyone else, you are an individual so dont act like everyone else, act like YOU.
when you're old and are looking back on your life, will you want to be remembered for being pretty, or for being caring? for being poplular, or being fun to be around? a lot of the things that seem important right now are just wastes of time.
everywhere there are opportunities--opportunities to live a better life, opportunities for learning, opportunites for adventure and experiances. you just have to reach out and grab them.
don't be afraid of failure. as long as you can learn from failure and are capable of surviving, it is often worth the risk.
and my favorite "Do what you can with what you have while you have it" you won't always be able to do everything, but you can do something.

I wish people told me sooner about the thrill you get from volunteering and the satisfication in knowing you are making a positive difference. I wish people told me sooner that materialistic things are not what is important in this life, people won't remember you for the car you drove or the clothing you wore, however; they will remember you for the effort you put forth in obtaining and maintaining a relationship with them and the little things you did to show you cared. I wish people told me sooner that this world, though seemingly large, is very small and, in modern times, being so interconnected gives us the abilitiy to reach and help people in all areas of the world. I wish that people told me sooner about the website takingitglobal.org....

I wish that someone had told me about the issues in this world while I still was a child. Than I would grow up feeling more happy with myself. And by thinking of the poor children, I would not waste food, and take school more seriously.

Hmm...well I like to learn life lessons on my own and not having people tell me but if there's one thing that I wish people told me sooner it's not to regret anything!
No regrets, just lessons learned.

I wish someone had told me earlier that rash decisions aren't always a bad thing, there are some exceptions, especially when you have a once in a lifetime opportunity.
I also wish someone had told me that making mistakes aren't bad, they are the only way to really learn.

To quote from a recent Hollywood movie:
"Why do we fall, sir? So that we might better learn to pick ourselves up."
Although like xmel, I prefer to learn these lessons on my own, but t'would have been nice to have heard that little gem of advice early on in my life.
The only other thing I regret not knowing earlier was the real story of why my parents emigrated to Canada...
My life would have been very different had a few small things went the other way...
