Well you could start by walking to school to reduce car pollution. There are many students that like near by their schools but are driven to school, cuasing car pollution! Plus people going to work can carpool to also reduce car pollution.

i agree with rachel, we should walk to school when we are able like people live 1 km from school should walk, i live at least 10 to 15 km from school and i still take the bus sometimes, carpooling is a great idea i fink because workers can reduce pollution from doing dat

one of the biggest causes of pollution is the emissions from cars. i think the key is TTC (torontos subway system)! if your lazy, short of money, in a hurry, got a flat tire, like too far away or have a broken arm "ride the rocket." thats what i do.

pollution is one of the biggest environmental problems in the world. we need to cut down on not only vehicle pollutions, but every other kind to. like spray paint fumes. if car companies took the time to paint cars without spraying them, then that would save thousands to millions of fumes from disolving the Ozone layer. yes it would cost more money, but it could keep our future (children) safe from UV rays.
carpooling is something that could stop alot of fumes from reaching the Ozone layer aswell. each of you that has suggested carpooling is smart. everybody that gives ideas to stoping pollution is smart. but only those who actually do something about it can be considered the true heros. Actions speak lowder than words. if somebody plans to start something, or comes up with an idea for something to make stopping pollution, i'll support you. if you dont want to lead it, but you have a good idea, i'll lead it. just email me

It is true that the small things make a difference, but you guys are forgetting all the pollution countries are causing, whether it was the United States in Iraq or France dumping chemical waste in the ocean.
The point here is that in all of us contribute it will make a difference; I even heard that the ozone layer stopped expanding over the polls of the earth. We have to standup in the faces of our governments and make sure that industries are not destroying what we ordinary people are trying to do.

Hey, I like the way POETICBURST put it. EVERY ONE should do something little to make a change, let some else do theirs' and at the end of the day, it is all those little efforts of individuals that translate to make A BIG DIFFERENCE! Afterall, it is not one car's emmision that really makes the polution issue worriesome but the sum total of all emmisions from all cars!
For those who use all those chemicals to fish, why not stop now? As for walking rather than taking a drive, its okay and if the distance is far, why not use a bicycle? After all, we need the excercise!

I do think pollution differ from every country for example in very industrialised countries emitions from these factories could be the majopr causes of the pollution and yet in other countries it could be the opposite. I do believe in countries where individuals need to stand up and say no to pollution it is high tiem they did so, things like unneccesary dumping, bad noise, all cause pollution.

how about not using hair sprays and gels? can we trade that extra bounce or gelled look for a longer life span ?
how about liking one's natural hair colour and not buying dyes?
how about not needing that extra shine on your shoes for once?
how about insisting on buying recycled paper only?
how about shedding our egos and getting on the school bus tommorrow or the public bus to work( whichever is the case)?
etc etc...there are a million things we can do today to change our future for good...( of course there is industrial waste and Kyoto protocol ..but let us at least do what is within our reach!)
so add on your ideas...
we can all begin today...

well, I do think; context, infrasture, impact, and response, are very crucial when dealing with pollution, for example In which contect does noise pollution apply, are there established infrastured inplace to critically analsye the problem and deal with it, how can all affected stakeholders be brought on board, involving the poor the rich the educated and the less educated, who is affected by th problem, here analysis would also entail the future generation, not to compromise their preferances, and about response it is very important to understand the responsibility and the roles various stakeholders can offer, who is supposed to take lead, how can a grassroot individual offer support, what about the state or the governement. I do think solving problems like pollution would need joint effort more so from Individuals, then families, communities and the entire country.

well, first of all please stop using chat room talk it gets really annoying. Second there are lots of things you can do. I started walking to school at age 7 and continue to. I also try to bike to practices for sports and when we have to drive some of our team carpools. Those are just some of the things I've done but you can do even more.
