Music; Why do we love it?
Nov 16, 2007

What is it that makes everyone so obsessed with music? What would the world be like with no music?
How was music created? And most importantly..Why?

Music pretty much expresses what we're trying to express ourselves but when artists or songwriters
do it, it makes it sound so much better than we could've ever expressed it ourselves. I think that's
why we like it. Oh! And it makes me dance and that's the cure for everything!

I love music because it's a part of me... my dad is a musician... and they are certain
values/lessons you learn from someone who is... music has shaped my life in ways that nothing else
has... I think that people love music because it is a language that everyone can understand... a
world without music would be like a world without language... a large part of the way we communicate
would be silenced... also.. an entire section of the world's industry would be lost... which would
cause problems with economy and such

In the immortal words of Stevie Wonder...
Music is a world within itself
With a language we all understand
Everyone can take a different meaning out of music and apply it to their lives...

Music is a form of expression. We all love to express ourselves and music is a unique way to do
that. You can express so many different feelings and emotions through music and it is pleasing to
the ear.

Music is a phenomenon all on its own that indiguous tribes since the dawn of man have been creating.
Most importantly, I think its fascinating the scientific studies that show mood can actually
physically change our moods. Like one study measured cortisol levels (related to stress) of
subjects before and after listening to their preferred music over a period of time and subjects were
significantly lessed stressed (lower cortisol levels). Music also effects things like pain, other
emotions, sleep, memory, motivation, exercise, relationships, and creativity. I've personally
played the violin since I was 8 and am really big on music appreciation and use different types to
fit different moods or to help me study. I think that all these benefits from music, although not
tested in the past, were readily apparent and music has become something ingrained into human
society.

Music is a language. A universal language of expression and perception. It has the ability to
trigger those parts of the brain that elicit the deepest emotions, connecting us to inner selves and
revitalizing the soul. Music transcends all boundaries and enables us to release our burdens. It
connects us to others and to our own feelings, some of which we have not yet felt. It makes us
unique and gives us a voice and a style. Music is the thread that moulds our lives. It is
everlasting and evolving. It grows with you and brings back the memories of good and bad. It is a
systematic study of preference. Music is my lifeline and my form of expression. It is my creative
voice and my refuge. It is there at the most critical times in my life and it bonds memory with
perception and joy. It is a vital part of my life and I could not live without it. Music is love.

Music is a gift. To inspire or be inspired through music and relate to others in appreciation is
one other thing that makes us uniquely human. It enables us to feel on a level beyond what would
transpire if it did not exist. Most importantly, it's a unifying medium that helps us connect to
others and the world around us.

We love music because it opens up the door to an unknown language of intuition; a refuge to another
mode of communication much less harsh than daily thoughts. It was created by some sheer genious,
IMHO, the person should be acclaimed for the millon ways in which they have influenced our lives.

I think music is a rythm within our thoughts, things around us, universe, words(lyrics), our
emotions.... music is a tool smoothing our disturbed behaviours, thoughts......
