I'm not sure what exactly is a reef, but I DO know its a structure made up of small creatures called polyps. Its an environment too, for many varieties of fish and invertebrates (animals without back bones)... and... yeah...

you Could have typed in "reef" on the internet.. but anyway...
A reef can be made out of coral or rocks or whatever... it's always underwater and supports life. Reef's are usually alive, which means it's made from coral. Reefs are great places to go scuba diving or even snorkling...

Complex structures made of a-biotic and biotic factors. They are extremely sensitive and can destruct easily. To form a good sived coral reef takes hundreds of years, and with tourists and scuba divers "accidentally" taking home souveneirs, they are quickly becoming endangered.
