I believe that there are two best ways to learn, one is keeping informed friends, while two is reading books. The books you read and the friends you keep.

What ways does one learn best depends of what type of person he/she is. If you can visualiase better, it's best to make a pattern where you recapitulate all the main fact you have to know; to underline important words with different colours etc. Whereas if you're a audible type it's best tor read and repeat things aloud.
When figuring that out, then you repeat things every day. It doesnt have to be a big part to remeber, but small parts by small parts slowly, so you can build up a whole image of what you have to learn. It's the easiest wink

I was working in education and educational consulting in Eastern Europe for eight years. It was amazing to me how many people just didn’t think about how they were educating. If it isn’t learned, it wasn’t taught. It’s imperative that educators see themselves as service providers instead of gurus and sages. By virtue of your superior knowledge in a field, you can become a “teacher,” but that knowledge itself is inert unless it is properly communicated. That takes humility. I learn best when my teacher is humble enough to teach me.

Hmmms.... In what way do I learn best? Well from life experience, I'd say I learn best from writing things down in hierarchical formats.

I think learning from other people's experience and from books is the best option in learning.

[b][i]Just saw a quote by Tom Bodett, "The difference between school and life? In school you're taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you're gives a test that teaches you a lesson."
This is the reason teachers have to make learning real!

to learn well based from my experience, student must have what they call "hands on" in thier curriculum by having actual experience of thier field rather than staying almost of the time in the four corners of the classroom.

Lastly,Class participation is the best way to learn inside the school because writing, reading and memorizing are not enough. Students must know how to apply it for it to be called the effective learning.

I learn best when I work with people. Unfortunately, that is not what I am doing right now as I finish a masters on-line. The on-line forum has a social aspect but it could be much better for students. If the format was more facebook like, I think that the social learning we be greater. Right now I don't even have photos of my classmates. As a oldish learner, I also find that I learn best if I can connect emotionally to what I am learning.

See the things microscopically that is going around you, grab every opportunity that knocks your door, no matter you win or loose.Dont hesitate to read a piece of newspaper that is lying by the corner. Infact update yourself with current issues and also study the old books, newspapers to know the past, I always assure myself that "Those who ignore past can never bring a change". Also meet new people try to pinpoint their way of thinking and their knowledge.

Learning can take many forms. I would group learning into two categories:

1. Formal learning

Formal learning is what we learn in school and colleges. During formal learning the emphasis is on subject matter – on specific knowledge, concepts and ideas, set of skills and application of those skills. Teachers are generally individuals who are experts within their field of area. Students are evaluated, tested and graded based upon their knowledge and application of the knowledge. The primary source of knowledge are text books. The content of the textbooks are a summation of all the ideas, concepts and skills to date within that particular field – at least ideally.

How effective is formal learning is largely dependent upon the instructor and the institute and what techniques they utilize to impart knowledge and foster an environment of learning. In essence the question becomes what makes one individual a good teacher and another a bad teacher. I think some of the key issues would be:

• knowledge base and expertise of the instructors
• formal training of the instructors
• teaching technique employed by teachers – authoritative Vs participative, diction Vs. creative thinking, physical punishment Vs. open communication and frank discussion etc. These are some of my own observations.

2. Informal learning

Apart from formal learning, we also learn from various different sources. Some of the sources are:

• Family members
• Friends
• Work environment / Co-workers
• TV and Movies
• Songs
• Society / Culture

Unlike formal learning, there are no set rules and no guide lines and no text books for informal learning. We usually learn from our experience, from the guidance and advise that we receive and from general observation. Informal learning is largely dictated by our immediate surrounding – society and culture we live in.

I think in both cases a “proactive and constructive” approach provide the best basis for learning.

Finally, I would to address what “learning” itself means. The world is filled with stories that inspire and stories that terrify. What do we learn from those stories is perhaps one of the greatest “learning” challenges that faces humanity.

From the hard knocks and the mistakes I make in my life. You need to reflect to learn, or you will make the same mistakes over and over!

Learning by making something with your hands has proven to be one of the best ways to learn. Making something with your hands that is relevant for you personally and which you can use to communicate to others about is what Seymour Papert, constructionist from MIT claim to be one of the most effective ways to learn
[link="http://www.legoeducation.com"]LEGO Education
, a subdivision of The LEGO Company is basing their learning philosophy on this core thinking by Papert, which can be found in every of the learning materials they develop and market.
