what is good, what is evil

Let me raise an issue most of you will consider obvious and not worth your time and effort to even discuss.
What is good and what is evil? Who defines good and evil? Genesis? Koran? God? Kant? Plato? Nietzsche?
Think hard and be frank with yourself and with others here. Put your honest responses even if you think it is very trivial.

Good and evil can b defined by all what u have mentioned, but my opinion is that measuring good and evil differs from one society to another. What u think is good may b in another society they regard it evil, and so on and so forth. Not only between societies it also differs from one person to another but i think that everyone has to c whats good and whats evil from his own socitie's prespective cuz its the most peaceful way to live among them and not to appear as odd.

Good and evil is relative. Its a matter of what one thinks of at the time. I have had this topic discussed most times its just a thing of one's imagination.
What is good for you maybe bad for and what is bad for you maybe good for me.

i agree with this line of thinking..i think its simply define by the golden rule...
do unto others what you want others to do unto you...its the bill of rights- respect of one's life, liverty and property...
more than anything else..lets respect each other(",)

what is evil, and what is good is a debatable issue......we can't reach a common resolution.........and from that point i can say that it differs from culture to culture, from environment to another.....this question can be answered by observing how environment...how we was affected and how we learned that from our parents.......................howerver, all the things you mentioned represents the common universal sources of the main aspects that govern this issue...........
for me........what is.evil is dark....it harms alot of people......what is good affect alot of people in a n effective way

well, this is not a simple discussion at all, scholars are trying to convince each other on the issue for past hundreds of years!
the question they put is: whether goodness and badness are inherent in acts or they are not!
means: wheather an act has the element of goodness or otherwise in it, or they is teh result of anyother force?
i believe, if we take the external forces out, nothing is good or bad, everything could fine a justification for itself. these forces could be for instace, religion, culture, social values, customs.....

I beg to differ from this view. What is evil is evil and what is good is good. There is no question of relativity here. For instance If killing is bad, any where it is commited and to any person, it is still an evil deed.

Dear fisherman,If I believe something as a religion, I will say about it to you that there is nothing call angle or demon there. The simple thing is that they are one. We can not say"i always do good things". Maybe what we are doing is good for a person, but it is bad for another. I think you can understand it. Killing is bad because it makes people around feel unhappy, and sometimes this unhappiness can effect to his later genarations. But sometimes it is accpeted in many people's mind (althought law doesn't allow it )because his death can make the world future better. (What he did in the past, make his present). The death opens many new chances for another. It is always right. I mean the profit. That is why he says that
I remeber a story. It happened in the flight. There was a a boy joking with his friends there.Suddenly he asked a girl to come near and gave her a letter with smile. After reading, the girl stared at him and her face became white. When the flight took off, more than one thousand of police there were waiting for him with the modern transports, gun too.He was judged 15 years in prison after that because of atrocity. They said him that he is the atrocist, although many friends of him try to explain it that it was just a joke. But it is useless. He has to past his young age in present. What will happen with his future? There is no profit here.So we can not say what we who get the changes or not.
Life rules is not always absolutly. So I don't pay attention on what i do,do what I think is best wit the responsibility

a simple expression. To be loved is happier than to love. But love is also a reason that bears " hate".

EveryOne has the power of positive or negative thinking lying within them.
God deposited what is called censor in us.It works like a conscience which assists mankind to differenciate between the rights and the wrongs.Without been told, when someone sees an action or a reaction,he/she will know if it is good or bad.Sometimes,Good things are the things we do at the right time or place. And evil deeds are the things we do at the wrong time or place. But when we do the right things at the wrong time,it might be regarded as evil.thats why one of the science fiction quotes said:"Action and reaction are equal and opposite"
in the sense that,GOOD IS GOOD AND EVIL IS EVIL....

If u always think what is evil, what is good before doing anything, don;t u feel tired??i believe myself. Life needs the good and the bad too. Imagine there were no criminal, the police would no exist. They are the part of life, so why we have to think about it always? I don;t think there is any one that always do good things in their life. Evil is just a " name", and " good" is a name.

I really think that "good" and "evil" doesn't exist.
What exists is "now", some people only think on themselves, so they do things that will make THEM happy without thinking about other people happiness or feelings and that isn't nice, is it? ^^
And I think that you can't say "Killing is bad", I mean, Killing IS bad, but when the person that is going to be killed made giant Atrocities, them that is "justified"(when it's made for a greater "good", but that's when it gets hard, WHO decides what is better for everyone? God?)
