Did you know that your cell phone can be used as a device that allows people to spy on u? Do you know how to protect yourself from a phone invasion?

Well.....I honestly admit that until this very day I'm totally ignorant about the potential of my cell-phone to become the first gate of such a malicious invasion !
I would recommend you to enlighten me, as well as everyone here, about the possible abuse of cell-phones...please!

There's software that hides on cell phones and captures call logs and text messages. It's being used to monitor spouses and children.
It requires someone to install it on the phone, but when it does install, it does so without indicating what it is.
The software can be used by criminals or troublemakers. An attacker could send the program via Bluetooth, and hope that the receiver will be curious enough to install it.
Some phones are designed to detect the software.
Here's an article with tips regarding cell phones:
Cell Phone Safety

If people use the old old cell phones with just the very basic functions, maybe we won't have a problem.

I know its stupid but that's the fact. Lots of people still use phones that don't even have colour screens, and I think they're less likely to have their phones infected with spyware. Not that I'm saying you should regress and go back to using old technology, I think tech-evolution and problems like these make us look for better solutions.

Well there is some possibility if you leave your cell phones open with bluetooth, if you are talking about other type of privacy you can block out unknown numbers with third party applications, etc

For a while I was unaware that there was any danger with using cell phones. Luckily my computer class last year enlightened me about the hazards of phones. While I do not believe that we should all go back to using the black and white, brick cell phones, I think it is important to know and understand the dangers as technology quickly advances. For example, like a previous person stated, blue tooth can be used by hackers to break into your phone and rack up expensive phone calls without you even knowing. The government can also track your cell phone. A great example of cell phone tracking is the Anthony case in Orlando, Fl which involved a mother in court for killing her young daughter. Investigators could trace where she was and what she was doing on her phone at any given time. Be careful while using your cell phones!

In the Anthony case, law enforcement has also been able to track and report text messages! Nothing like seeing your words on Nancy Grace night after night!!

Our beloved government can also turn on the microphone in your cell phone and listen to anything going on around you without you ever knowing.

Forgot to add that it also can disable your cell phone at will - did this during the inauguration and left people without cell access.

I also forgot to mention that phone records can also be traced for evidence during car accidents and other incidents. I found it scary that the government has the power to use cell phone microphones to listen to conversations without you knowing. It is also very scary that they have the power to turn off everyone's phone in one place! The tricks in technology will never stop amazing me!

I have been receiving messages from someone who fooled me to think they were someone else. When I declined further messaging the messages got threatening. The significance was that they starting naming certain acquaintences of mine. Then proceeded to act upon the said threats. The numbers trace back to prepaid cell numbers and local police deny the ability to trace any further. Other text's are coming from secure servers which I'm told can be coffee shops or local WIFI providers, again untraceable.
Where do I turn?
