Isn't MySpace the most popular one (with size of members) then Facebook?

Well Facebook has the most users in Toronto which is in Ontario, Canada and for us I don't think that Facebook is a fad. For us, it was MySpace that was a fad.
And I blame Facebook for not doing my homework.

While I like the look and feel of Facebook, Orkut was of great use because it allowed me to reconnect to old friends and family that I had lost touch with. I don't care if it started as a fad or not, it's a good tool for finding people you lost touch with, and rekindling friendships... but just gotta be careful, cuz its also used for spying and prying and gossips. bleh

I've used facebook, myspace, and aimstick. I like facebook the best. As for Qrkut, I've never heard of it.

i think they're both okay.
as for what purpose they serve, i think it depends on how you use them. they're great for catching up with old friends.
if you want, they're also great for professional networking. by joining groups you can connect with people who share interests and experience, and you can collaborate on stuff or ask for advice.

Very well put Bumbuwazed,
I do not think that a website like Facebook is a mere fad.....on the contrary, I think it was the major utensile that reconnected me with some friends whom I had not seen for years and years.
I don't know personally.....but keeping social relations vivid is an essential pillar in the Middle-Eastern culture, that explains a lot why a website like Facebook has become so popular in Egypt as an example.

I don't know I had nver actually heard of okurt before this morning. I think it has a lot to do with where you live and your age. I know Facebook is more popular with an older audience in Canada, the US and the UK. I can only assume that Okurt would be more popular in other parts of the world. I know that MySace is now really popular with high school aged students here in Canada and that's why a lot of my older friends switched from MySpcae to Facebook beucase they didn't want to feel creepy.

Orkut seems to be popular with Asians and Brazillians. I could not find anyone i know from Kenya in Orkut.
